Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Controller Shutoff Bug Is Being Investigated

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War opened its beta gameplay to PlayStation 4 players last weekend. While many were keen to play one of the most anticipated games of the year, the game did have some issues. It is not uncommon for beta versions of a game to have problems, but many were surprised by the severity of the issue that occurred for numerous players. Many will be hoping that the issue is fixed before the next cross-platform test.

The latest release from the Call of Duty franchise, Modern Warfare, has had a lot of updates to keep it entertaining but also to address issues flagged by the gaming community. These updates have helped make the game a success, and many hope that Black Ops Cold War also listens to fans to make the game entertaining and functional. This feeling will be particularly prevalent as the beta has been disconnecting PlayStation controllers and making it difficult for players to rejoin the action.

Players have noted that they have been booted because of inactivity due to the controller switching off at random. Others have fallen victim to opponents as they played because of the issue. Safe to say, players are not impressed with the disconnecting controllers and it is concerning that it is widespread across the PlayStation player base. However, the team behind Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War appears to be attempting to address the bug already. On a Reddit forum that saw many players address the game-breaking problem, a Treyarch developer has responded “Our team is investigating issues like these.”

There were other issues in the beta gameplay, and many players hope that network issues and sliding bugs will also see a fix in the coming weeks. Nonetheless, fans will be comforted by the promise of resolution, although it is unclear when the bugs will be fixed. Many have been annoyed by these kinds of issues, but it seems that many are still optimistic about the quality of the upcoming Call of Duty.

If Treyarch reacts like Infinity Ward has done with issues in Modern Warfare, then there should be a relatively speedy resolution to these problems. However, the nature of frequent updates is that other bugs appear, with that in mind, the game may have a difficult balancing act when it comes to pleasing players.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches November 13 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
