Xbox Series X Gets Several Twitter Hashtags and an Emoji

Anticipation for the Xbox Series X is steadily building as fans become keen to see its new features. The Series X will have impressive specifications alongside innovative features such as Quick Resume. However, the next-generation has showcased a unique element in the marketing of these consoles and that is the importance of social media. Going forward, it seems that Xbox intends to capitalize on this space to reach the maximum amount of consumers.

The Xbox social media accounts have been busy in recent months spreading awareness about online events as well as commenting on the competition. Players will now be able to signal their interaction with the Xbox Series X with more than just a mention but through a series of hashtags that also prompt the use of a console-specific emoji. Safe to say, fans are enjoying the handy addition to Twitter and it seems that this has been an inspired move by the team at Xbox.

Xbox revealed the new emoji alongside a series of hashtags. The hashtags included the #XboxSeriesX, #PowerYourDreams, #PYD, #JumpIn, #Xbox, and #Series X. Perhaps the most heart-warming and nostalgic nod in these hashtags is #JumpIn which was the tagline for the Xbox 360.

It seems that the Xbox Series X emoji will appear alongside most hashtags that would come to mind when tweeting about the console. Some comments have noted that the Series S has missed out on this treatment, but in a witty response Xbox has claimed that the console is “emoji sized already.” Moving forward it will be interesting to see if this emoji and the corresponding hashtags help promote the console or whether it will become used by a specific user base.

While an emoji and a hashtag likely won’t change the commercial success of the next-generation console, and many still believe PlayStation 5 will dominate the market, it may help cultivate a larger community. Many games and consoles have managed to entice consumers through the strength of their communities and this new Twitter setup may help the Xbox Series X. Equally, it may make it easier to gain traffic when new announcements are made because of emoji.

It seems that this is a positive move and it will be intriguing to see if this emoji helps spread the word about the highly anticipated Xbox Series X.

The Xbox Series X is set to launch on November 12, 2020.
