When a new weapon is added to a multiplayer title like Call of Duty: Warzone, they tend to become popular by virtue of being a tad overpowered, which usually leads to it being nerfed. The SP-R 208 marksman rifle, which was added as part of Season 6, was no different, though it still proved to be a deadly weapon in the right hands.
Infinity Ward, however, appears to think that it was still too powerful for its own good and so, as part of the most recent patch, the weapon has been nerfed for a second time. Specifically, Infinity Ward has reduced the minimum amount of damage it deals at range in Call of Duty: Warzone.
It’s not yet known how drastic of a change this will make. Even when it was nerfed the first time, one player demonstrated its potential and how powerful the SP-R 208 could still be, thanks to a specific set of attachments. The new nerf could make that build no longer viable, but it’ll still be a while until players figure out if it’s still capable of taking down players near instantly.
The only other weapon to be altered is the Kar98, which has actually received a buff, with its minimum damage at range now being higher. This weapon is quite popular among high-skill Warzone players, capable of one-shot killing even fully armored players, though time will tell if this buff has made it too strong.
The patch has also changed up the playlists for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone. For Warzone, Blood Money Squads has been swapped out for Plunder Quads, which had been removed at the beginning of the year and fans have been desperately demanding for it to return ever since.
As for Modern Warfare, the playlists consist of Ground War, Gunfight, Deathmatch Domination + Drop Zone, Gun Game TDM, and HQ Firefight. For that last one, Infinity Ward notes that teams can add to their score by getting kills and by capturing the headquarters.
There are some general fixes as well, but one neat addition is specifically for PC players and is something that has been heavily requested as the games’ size has only continued to get bigger and bigger with every season, with Season 6 requiring 20 GB of space by itself.
PC users now have the option to uninstall Modern Warfare‘s Campaign, Multiplayer, and/or Special Ops modes in the event that they have no interest in them, thus making more room on their hard drive. Warzone, however, can not be uninstalled.
There is currently no option to set up private matches in Warzone, but it is believed that this will be added at some point down the line.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
