The times, taken from the website howlongtobeat.com, are based on just going through the main story. Some of the titles have extensive multiplayer modes or take significantly longer to fully complete, giving gamers well over a thousand hours of fun in the offerings.

18 Mortal Kombat (5 1/2 Hours)

Saying Mortal Kombat is less than six hours is a little unfair. This is how long it takes to get through the story mode, which everyone should experience at least once. Afterwards, going through the arcade ladder with every character takes a solid eight or ten hours. Then, replay value is all dependent on how much one loves the competitive multiplayer.

17 Battlefield 1 (6 1/2 Hours)

Most people do not even dive into the single-player campaign of military shooters, but those who do will be pleasantly surprised by Battlefield 1’s offering. It tells several different short stories set during World War I, showcasing just how brutal of a conflict it was.

16 Until Dawn (8 Hours)

Everybody’s experience with Until Dawn is slightly different, since every gameplay moment presents either a choice or a small gameplay challenge whose success determines what happens in the story. those who like seeing multiple endings or who want to see all the characters live will go through the eight hour campaign several times over.

15 Resident Evil 7 (9 1/2 Hours)

Resident Evil games are always fun to beat several times over. The first play through of Resident Evil 7 is a terrifying jaunt through the unknown, while the second and third runs are the player proving to Capcom that their creation does not scare them anymore. After memorizing the map layout, one can beat this survival horror classic in about two hours.

14 Infamous: Second Son (10 Hours)

While ten hours seems like a short run time for an open-world game, it plays into the title’s strengths. If one is in a hurry and not willing do engage in side activities, the game can be a short jaunt into a different world. Those who enjoy it immensely can spend significantly more time seeing all their is to see in Sucker Punch’s last entry in the Infamous franchise.

13 Ratchet And Clank (10 Hours)

The debut entry in the franchise is a little hard to grasp for modern gamers, feeling more like a PlayStation One 3D platformer. This makes the remake for the PS4 all the more welcome, since it fully embraces the mixture of shooting and platforming for which the series is know well known.

12 Detroit: Become Human (12 Hours)

The science fiction story  in Quantic Dreams’ Detroit: Become Human deals with themes similar to stories like Blade Runner and I Robot. It may be a little heavy handed for some, but the branching plot paths and countless outcomes for the story make it engaging for fans of choice-driven narratives.

11 The Last Guardian (12 Hours)

As exciting as it was to finally see The Last Guardian released after nearly a decade in development limbo, the final product is not quite as revolutionary as Ico or Shadow of the Colossus. Still, the gameplay is compelling enough for a single play through, and players form a genuine connection with their animal companion.

10 The Last Of Us Remastered (14 1/2)

The Last of Us stands as one of the best PlayStation 3 games ever released. The remastered version on the PS4 updates the visuals to the point of looking like a game built from the ground up for the console, complemented by a smooth sixty frames per second performance.

There is no better way to experience this emotionally charged post-apocalyptic tale.

9 Uncharted 4 (15 Hours)

Uncharted 4 is by far the longest game in the series, coming in at fifteen hours. Some sections admittedly go on for a tad too long, but it is forgivable when the dialogue is constantly top notch and the environments are this breathtakingly gorgeous. The multiplayer is also a hidden gem most gamers should test out at least once.

8 Arkham Knight (16 1/2)

The last game in what many call The Arkham trilogy boasts the biggest game world and longest campaign. Most of it is pure gold, though some took issue with the Batmobile segments. Still, it is a decent enough follow up to Arkham City and a satisfying conclusion to the story.

7 God Of War (20 1/2)

Kratos was a particularly hard character to sympathize with in his early outings, but he changes significantly in 2018’s God of War, which has him guiding his son Atreus through the worst Norse mythology has to offer. After the series was put into doubt with God of War: Ascension, the newest game proved Kratos is here to stay for the long haul.

6 Fallout 4 (26 1/2 Hours)

Modern Bethesda Fallout games lack the choice-driven narratives of its isometric RPG origins, but it is still a ton of fun to roam the wasteland and take out enemies in metropolitan ruins.

Plus, Fallout 4 has significantly fewer technological issues than Fallout 76.

5 Final Fantasy XV (28 Hours)

While somewhat on the short side for the series, the run time can be extended thanks to the numerous side quests present in the first half of the game. Curiously, the last large handful of chapters beeline the story to its conclusion, only taking several hours to complete versus the open-ended adventure of the first half.

4 Bloodborne (34 1/2 Hours)

This runtime varies significantly depending on one’s skill level and their familiarity with FromSoftware’s gamesBloodborne is certainly more accessible and polished than the studio’s prior efforts, but it is still one of the most difficult mainstream games for the console, and also one of the best.

3 Days Gone (38 Hours)

Unfortunately, many players’ main complaint with Days Gone is its bloated length. It could have done with a significant trim down, especially since the highs in this post-apocalyptic open-world game are truly extraordinary. Nothing is as terrifying and thrilling as booking it away from a horde of zombies.

2 Monster Hunter: World (49 Hours)

Monster Hunter: World blew the lid off the franchise, turning into a mainstream success. Plenty of content exists in the base game, and going through it with a friend is a huge joy. If forty-nine hours is not enough, be sure to check out the expansion, Iceborne.

1 Persona 5 (97 Hours)

While most would ultimately recommend shelling out the extra cash for Persona 5: Royal, ninety-seven hours is certainly nothing to complain about for a free game. Playing this game through to the end is a mark of a true RPG fan, though it is not hard to do when the gameplay and story are as unique as Persona 5.
