RuneScape is one of the longest-running and most successful MMORPGs in gaming, as it will soon be celebrating its 2o-year anniversary. The game may be aged, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t seeing new content or exciting reveals, as recently it was revealed that RuneScape is coming to Steam. The most recent piece of news is a partnership with Amazon Prime, and RuneScape players have some content to look forward to.
Runescape and Prime Gaming have teamed up to provide monthly “drops” over the next few months, including exclusive events, Umbral Chests, and Currency Packs. There will be “drops” available for players whether they play RuneScape or Old School RuneScape.
Prime Gaming is the new name for Twitch Prime, as Amazon rebranded the service earlier this year. Prime Gaming comes free with any Amazon Prime membership and includes free video games and in-game loot, such as this RuneScape deal. Once a player has linked their RuneScape account to their Prime Gaming account, they must visit the Prime Gaming webpage each month to “claim” their prize.
Many fans bounce back and forth between playing RuneScape, which is still seeing updates, and Old School RuneScape. The modern RuneScape is a gigantic MMORPG filled with ongoing content, tons of quests, and many skills and abilities to master. Meanwhile, Old School RuneScape provides a unique sandbox MMO style of gameplay. For fans of either, or for those who may be interested to jump back in for the first time in a while, the fact that the Prime Gaming drops are for both versions is exciting.
