Spider-Man: Miles Morales Has No Loading Screens | Game Rant

There’s only a little less than a month before Spider-Man: Miles Morales officially launches, so Insomniac Games is doubling down by releasing more information on the title. The developer disclosed one exciting detail that claimed the game wouldn’t have any loading screens at all on the PlayStation 5. But while this is a testament to the quality of the PlayStation 5’s next-generation technology, some might find the news a little disappointing, considering how enjoyable the loading screens in Spider-Man PS4 were.

Insomniac Games disclosed the information in an interview with Game Informer, which had the chance to get hands-on with Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The interview revealed all sorts of information, enough to span a whopping 15 pages. A paid subscription is needed to personally read the full interview, but gaming insider Shinobi602 shared some highlights from the cover story on social media.

Among other things, the post reveals that Spider-Man: Miles Morales won’t have any loading screens. Any time that Spider-Man PS4 was loading a mission or a save file, players would see a still of Peter web-slinging in his chosen Spider-Man costume. The PS5 version of Miles Morales will also eliminate the loading animations that players would see whenever they fast-traveled, which showed Peter casually taking the subway in his Spider-Man suit.

It’s worth noting that a lack of loading screens on the PlayStation 5 version of Spider-Man: Miles Morales doesn’t mean that the game has none at all. Miles Morales releases on the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5, and while some titles on the PS4, such as Ghost of Tsushima, have really quick loading times, they aren’t as fast as the PS5 version and therefore require loading screens of some sort. So PS4 players should still be getting custom Miles Morales loading screens when Spider-Man: Miles Morales launches.

That said, some PlayStation 5 players might be disappointed that they won’t be able to take a look at some of the screens when they play on the new console. It’s not too big of a loss, of course, but merely a sign of the technological leap from one console to the next. As a trade-off, PS5 owners will have instant loading, along with all sorts of other advantages at their fingertips. Game Informer stated that it was very impressed by the visuals available in Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ Optional Performance Mode and Fidelity Mode. The former runs the game at 4K/60FPS, while the latter allows for 4K/30FPS with ray-tracing and other visual improvements.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales launches November 12 for PS4 and PS5.
