The 2018 Spider-Man game boasted a roster of suits for players to select from, each with a unique look and suit ability coupled with it to make it stand out from the rest. It appears that Spider-Man: Miles Morales will also offer a wide variety of suits for the player to equip, though they seem to be a fair bit more unique, as one features a cat sidekick.
A video posted by Game Informer not only shows off some new Miles Morales gameplay, but revealed the animal companion. The cat, who is apparently also called “Spider-Man” rides around in Miles’ backpack. In the gameplay footage, Miles returns the cat to its owner, a convenience store clerk that has a strong bond with the cat, as evidenced by the pair’s wholesome reunion.
However, the end of the video reveals that one of Miles’ suit options will allow him to carry the cat around with him inside of the backpack. The cat even has its own Spider-Man mask, and can launch out of the backpack to attack foes during finisher moves. It’s a unique concept, and it seems likely that it will become an early contender for fan-favorite.
So far, other suits have had similarly striking designs, including one that appears to have a ‘90s Easter egg in the form of the “Stussy S” on its sleeve. Miles Morales isn’t a full sequel to the first game, and the exact number of suits featured within it hasn’t been revealed yet, so it isn’t clear if Insomniac Games will opt for quality over quantity, or if there will be a wide range to choose from.
Luckily, the game is out in just about a month, so there’s not too much longer to wait until fans can find out for themselves. Of the PS5’s launch games, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is one of the biggest, especially considering it’s PlayStation exclusivity. Those that weren’t able to grab a PS5 pre-order need not worry, either, as the game is still releasing for the PS4.
More suits will likely be revealed as the launch gets closer, though it’s a safe bet that there will still be some surprises in store for fans on day one. Plus, Spider-Man 2018 added suits after launch, and it’s always possible that Insomniac will do the same thing for Miles Morales. The real question is how far out there the suits will be, compared to the Spider-Cat crime-fighting companion.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales releases November 12 for PS4 and PS5.
