Act 3 of Riot Games’ free-to-play multiplayer first-person tactical title Valorant has been launched with patch 1.10, which adds a number of new features and a few quality-of-life changes to the game.
Valorant players now have access to a new map called Icebox, which has been released ahead of schedule and is therefore considered to still be in a beta state. This means that competitive players won’t be able to earn new ranks on the map until October 27. In the meantime, the map will be available to play in Unrated, Spike Rush, and Deathmatch modes, and players who queue for Unrated games will get placed in the Icebox map more often.
For those who like to play Valorant’s ranked matches, there have also been a few updates to the game’s competitive mode. First, Act Rank badges earned for Act 2 will be handed out, and those who haven’t earned a badge will have their Act 2 progress rolled over so that they can be put back into placement matches for Act 3.
Additionally, the criteria for matchmaking has been tightened, capping rank variance for parties at three levels, and reducing skill disparity. Valorant Immortal+ ranked matches will no longer factor in individual performance, but will take into consideration only whether the game was won or lost and by how many rounds.
The Act 3 Valorant battle pass, which rewards players with unique items to personalize the game, now features a few improvements such as reworked progress in weekly missions that will result in faster unlocks and additional Epilogue tiers. Players who purchase the battle pass will unlock additional tiers of items like the Ruin Vandal, Disco Ball Gun Buddy, and the Surge Bucky, and a few exclusives like a Radianite Hazard Player Card have been added as well.
A number of quality-of-life improvements have been added by Riot Games, such as tweaks to mini-map performance, permitting requested guns to be sold back to the shop, and allowing players to select their own Variant rather than having to level them sequentially. New servers for Valorant players in the Middle East and North Africa region have launched, which should result in improved ping times.
For observers, in-world pings will now be team colored and a crosshair setting has been added that will let players lock its color to team colors. A few bugs have also been addressed in patch 1.10, including some UI tweaks for Shooting Range and a fix for an issue that prevented players from purchasing abilities in that mode.
Valorant is available on PC.
