With the launch of the PlayStation 5 less than a month away, Sony fans finally get a look of the retail box that will encompass the new console when it launches this November.
As part of the announced partnership with Burger King, a new TV spot has released detailing a promotion where fans can win a PlayStation 5 console simply by ordering from the menu and registering online.
The promotion, which begins today, gives fans a chance to win the PS5 by ordering from the $5 menu at the fast food chain. Players will then receive a token that can be entered online on the Burger King website giving them a chance to scratch a digital scratch ticket and win a prize. Aside from the opportunity to win console, players have a chance to win several Sony games and other Burger King menu items.
Burger King has been trending on social media all summer long as the company recently partnered with a marketing firm to advertise Burger King on Twitch, without Twitch streamers’ consent. The company would make use of community tools to force ads by donating money to users who allow text-to-voice messages on the stream. The messages would then promote the Burger King brand. The stint has caused quite an uproar from streamers who typically have advertising partners where they are properly compensated.
Meanwhile, Sony has begun releasing a string of videos promoting the PlayStation 5’s upcoming release, including a breakdown video of the PlayStation 5’s internals. The video explains the process of replacing the SSD, which requires a bit of work, and the ability to remove the fins off the console, hinting at the possibility of custom fins being sold similar to the Xbox 360’s face plates. Despite the speculation Sony has not released any details on custom fins.
Earlier today, Sony released a video going over the UI that players will navigate once the PlayStation 5 launches. Some notable improvements are the ability to cross-chat with PS4 users, quick loading between the home screen and games due to the fast SSD, and an activities heading that allows players to track how far they have progressed through a mission or game in general. The UI is similar to the PlayStation 4 but pushes the system related options such as the friends list, sound settings, and user menu to the bottom of the screen instead of the top as in the past.
The PlayStation 5 launches November 12.
