Destruction AllStars Gameplay Details Leak Early | Game Rant

The PlayStation 5 is only less than a month away from finally releasing but information on one of its launch titles, Destruction AllStars, has been surprisingly sparse, with it barely being talked about since its initial announcement at the PS5’s reveal event.

We do know that it’s a vehicle combat game, where the objective is to smash and crash into other players to take them out, sort of like the Twisted Metal series, though the big gameplay difference is that players must also sometimes parkour around the arena on foot and avoid being run over. Not to mention, it’s far more colorful and less gritty, with obvious similarities being made to Overwatch and Fortnite.

However, some additional gameplay details may have been leaked, courtesy of game designer David Jaffe who, coincidentally enough, worked on the aforementioned Twisted Metal. The details don’t come directly from him but a conversation he had with an anonymous individual who contacted him, claiming to have taken part in an early play test of Destruction AllStars back in 2019.

The contact states that they tried out two different modes, with the first being a Destruction Derby style mode set in a bowl-shaped arena where teams must try to wreck the other, with it being possible for players to be forced out of their vehicles and taking out these vulnerable players provides more points. This does match up with what gameplay and info we have so far.

The second mode is about capturing objectives and bringing them back to a score zone to rack up points. The map for this one is described as being much larger and having multiple lanes. While this all sounds believable, it’s still recommended that these details be taken with a punch of salt. The contact has no real evidence to support their claims and is more than likely breaking an NDA, which is a big risk to take and could result in legal action if Sony uncovers their identity.

Hopefully, with its release date edging closer and closer, Sony will drop some official information about the game or a new trailer, though anyone who’s already sold on it can pre-order a digital deluxe edition for $79.99, which comes with some in-game cosmetics.

Another launch title, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, is certainly faring a lot better, with some snippets of new gameplay being shown recently, including what looks to be the game’s first boss fight against a returning foe and a pet cat that actually helps Miles in combat.

And earlier today, Sony provided a proper first look at the PS5’s new UI, showing off its nifty Control Center and Activities feature which keeps track of one’s game progress and can even offer hints.

Destruction AllStars will release for PlayStation 5 on November 12th.
