Very Rare Pokemon Card Lost in the Mail; Found 5 Months Later

Back in March, earlier this year, YouTuber Leonhart opened a Pokemon Training Card pack, and inside was one of the more rare Pokemon cards; a 1999 Charizard worth around $55,000 at the time. Leonhart sent his rare card in the mail to PSA Card, an authentication and grading service. But instead of arriving in the California office, the card was lost in the mail, seemingly gone forever. Shockingly, five months later, the Pokemon Training Card has resurfaced.

Leonhart first posted his video of finding the rare 1999 holographic Charizard card in March, and a month later he uploaded another video on the subject, sharing with his fans the disappointment of the card being lost. Leonhart went through extreme measures to find his card, and in the recent video in which he reveals that the card has been discovered, he highlighted just how much he went through to try to find it.

In his 15-minute video, Leonhart explains the step-by-step process he went through in trying to find his card. The card seemingly got lost in Texas, and he even drove to the distribution center in which it was last seen. He made countless phone calls, visited locations in person, but found no luck. Leonhart even went to the trouble to write his local congressman. Leonhart did all of this in an attempt to find his lost Charizard card, one of the rarest Pokemon cards in the world.

According to his video, some people were helpful in the process, others not so much. But after many months, Leonhart had come to the conclusion that his card was lost forever. However, on October 14 he received an email from PSA, noting that they had received his card. The email first mentioned his rare Nidoking card that he also sent, but because he sent them both in the same package, Leonhart had hope that the Charizard card was found. Sure enough, he received an email soon after, letting him know that the Charizard card (now worth almost $200,000) was found.

Between the time it was lost, and today, the card has quadrupled in value. Leonhart lost hope, and believed that his rare and expensive Pokemon card was gone forever. But somehow the card arrived, something Leonhart cannot yet explain.

In his video, Leonhart talks about how he is confused as to what even happened. Although he is thrilled the card arrived, it certainly doesn’t make sense that the card was sent in March, last time stamped in Texas in March, and suddenly arrived in California in October. Perhaps it was lost this whole time, or perhaps something nefarious happened for a time, but it certainly is intriguing and exciting for Leonhart and his fans.
