10 Hidden Details Everyone Missed In Far Cry 5 | Game Rant

Ubisoft might not be the most beloved gaming company around, but even their most vocal naysayers would not really have too many horrible things to say about the Far Cry series. This first-person open-world romp through rich and varied landscapes has pretty much always hit the nail on the head when it comes to crafting entertaining experiences that remain fresh in the minds of players after they’ve finished these games.

Far Cry 3 is especially a game to be noted, especially given its amazing gameplay and an excellent antagonist. However, most people would agree that Far Cry 5 does a worthy job of perfecting the Ubisoft formula and delivering one of the best gaming experiences in quite some time.

Now, with the release of Far Cry 6 on the horizon, people are already replaying the previous title in order to freshen their minds with the experience of this series once again. So, now would be the perfect time to bring up some of the most well-hidden things about Far Cry 5 that most people had no idea about.

10 The Gun-For-Hire Hurk Has A Pretty Rich Backstory

It’s always fun to see clever references in any game, and Far Cry 5 definitely manages to check this box in resounding fashion in many ways. However, one thing that people tend to miss out on when recounting these instances in the backstory of Hurk.

Hurk is one of the many gun-for-hires that the player can unlock throughout the game, and he’s quite a blast to use — literally! He states that he’s trekked from Rook Island to Kyrat, which are the settings of the first two games respectively.

9 There’s A Clever Joke About Radio Towers In The Game

Most Ubisoft games have a bad habit of making players climb towers in order to unlock the map for a certain area. Far Cry 5 does away with this antiquated mechanic… although the game can’t resist dropping a cheeky line about it.

While liberating Dutch Island in the early stages of the game, Dutch will drop a line about how the player doesn’t have to worry about climbing radio towers all the time, which is a neat way to state that Far Cry 5 would certainly feel different from the first two games in this regard.

8 There Are Several References To Past Ubisoft Games

Of course, Ubisoft wouldn’t miss out on the opportunity to add a number of references, all of which serve as a callback to the studio’s rich history.

From Rabbid bobbleheads to in-game costumes that reference several Ubisoft IPs — these are just a few of the many things Ubisoft has crammed into Far Cry 5.

7 The Game Pays Homage To Stephen King’s It With A Clever Easter Egg

It seems that the developers of Far Cry 5 couldn’t resist adding a neat little easter egg, referencing one of Stephen King’s most renowned works — It.

One of the sewer grates in the game (near the Hope County Jail Bus) has a red balloon attached to it, which is clearly a reference to Pennywise’s iconic balloon.

6 A Gaming Journalist Was Trolled By Ubisoft Via A Rather… Obscene Confession

A PC Gamer editor by the name of James Davenport wrote a non-serious letter about how Ubisoft should add his dad to the game since he’s also from Montana. Surprisingly, Ubisoft delivered on this promise with the inclusion of Davenport Farms.

However, upon closer inspection, it doesn’t seem like any person is present in these farms — instead, the only evidence of human contact comes from a letter that talks about a son having a fetish for bovines and how his father shouldn’t find out about it.

That’s certainly quite extreme — and admittedly hilarious.

5 The Time Of The Game’s Events Is A Mystery… Unless The Player Looks At The Calendars

For the most part, no one in the game specifies the date and time around which the events of Far Cry 5 are happening, but keen-eyed players will definitely have an answer for this.

All the calendars in the game have the month of November 2018 displayed, which is a clear enough indication that this time period is what Far Cry 5 is situated in.

4 Bliss-Scented Air Fresheners Were A Part Of The Pre-Order Bonuses

The Bliss is a hallucinogen that plays a pretty major role in Far Cry 5, serving as Faith Seed’s creation that makes everyone — including the player — experience some pretty serious hallucinations.

So, in a bid to make their pre-order bonuses seem all the more enticing, Ubisoft decided to add Bliss-scented air fresheners to these players, which is quite a neat touch indeed.

3 The Players Never See Faith Seed In The Flesh Aside From The Game’s Prologue

One thing that most players might not have noticed is the fact that they only see Faith Seed in real life just once throughout the game.

The rest of the time she appears is only though Bliss-induced hallucinations… although these hallucinations are certainly quite powerful indeed.

2 Jacob Seed Can Actually Be Looted If The Players Wishes To Do So

The main antagonists of the game aren’t exactly the random enemies that the player can loot, which makes it fitting that these characters are rendered unlootable by the game after their demise.

However, if the player is hell-bent on looting this manic family, then they can certainly do so with Jacob Seed. Instead of using guns, engaging with Jacob in a fistfight and pressing the loot button just as the slow-motion of his fatal fall hits will mark the perfect time to break the game’s systems and loot some unnecessary items from this villain.

1 A Secret Ending Similar To Far Cry 4 Rears Its Head Again

Far Cry 4‘s secret ending was quite popular amongst the fanbase, but the same mechanic has also been used in Far Cry 5 and most people don’t even know about it!

To trigger this special ending, just wait for a while when Joseph Seed prompts the player to arrest them. After some time, the secret ending will be triggered.
