F.E.A.R. Players Calculate Franchise Kill Count, And It’s A Lot

Despite the F.E.A.R. series being dormant for years, fans of the horror series focused on the terrifying antagonist Alma recently went back to the games to see just how much death occurred. Unsurprisingly, it was a lot, with the various F.E.A.R. protagonists racking up over 2,000 total kills.

Though F.E.A.R. 3 was reviewed fairly well, the mismanaged series has remained dormant for nearly a decade. Despite this, fans of the cult classic series have remained vocal about a potential reboot. In the latest attempt to get F.E.A.R. talked about by gamers once again, a loyal crew of series fans has calculated the total number of kills that happened within the games.

Led by Reddit user TK-576, who may sound familiar to players that viewed Gordon Freeman’s kill count in Half Life, the group had their work cut out for them. With the series’ messy history causing issues for what content is considered canon, the group did their best and went out of the way to include the original game’s Perseus Mandate expansion in the total number. By doing so, a grand total of “2,432 Replica clones, Armacham mercenaries, and Alma cultists perished,” with the individual game breakdown listed below.

F.E.A.R. (2005): 585 kills

F.E.A.R.: Perseus Mandate (2007): 383 kills

F.E.A.R. 2 (2009): 803 kills

F.E.A.R. 3 (2011): 661 kills

The group gathering the data was extremely thorough, with the players confirming the numbers upon level replays and even providing video evidence for each game’s total kills. The protagonists of the F.E.A.R. series just barely edged out Max Payne’s total kill count, though the iconic Rockstar character did a good job considering he was just one incredibly angry man. With well over 2,000 kills across the series, the Alma incident certainly caused its fair share of collateral damage.

The F.E.A.R. kill count calculations are seriously impressive, and TK-576’s entire group deserves respect for putting in so much work to get the numbers. Hopefully, the players get their wish and F.E.A.R. becomes talked about enough to warrant a reboot some time down the road. With the F.E.A.R. Online fiasco now years in the past, the once-scary series has plenty of potential to be brought back to life.

At the very least, though, players can revisit the series to relive the frights and celebrate the Halloween season. F.E.A.R. is just one of many classic horror games that deserve a remake or reboot, and TK-756 has done their part (and then some) to make it happen.

The F.E.A.R. series is available now on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
