Genshin Impact: Best Claymore | Game Rant

Genshin Impact players have been quick to form alliances around their favorite in-game characters. While whimsical mages like Venti appeal to some players, others have been rallying around the claymore crew, so to speak. These fans of Diluc, Razor, and others will want to find the best greatsword around.

Although most of the prized weapons in Genshin Impact tend to be 5-star weapons, this rarity can sometimes be eclipsed by 3 or 4-star items that are more readily available. This seems to be the case with claymores, as despite the existence of several 5-star greatswords, most players seem to be opting for an easily crafted alternative.

A cursory search through forums like Reddit will reveal that many fans are coming to the defense of the Prototype Animus as a great claymore in Genshin Impact. There are other weapons like the Wolf’s Gravestone with better raw power that players will advocate for, but games like Genshin Impact often ask players to devote time and money, and that complicates things.

The Wolf’s Gravestone, once fully enhanced, can nearly double the entire party’s ATK stat for 12 seconds. This is undoubtedly powerful, but the only way to acquire a Wolf’s Gravestone is by spending currency on Wishes. This makes enhancing the weapon, which calls for duplicates, a painstaking process. The same argument applies to other 5-star dynamos like the Skyward Pride.

Rare luxuries aside, one of the best claymores in Genshin Impact right now seems to be the Prototype Animus. This weapon can be crafted with a Northlander Claymore Prototype and farmable Crystal and White Iron Chunks, which makes for easy enhancements. Rather than having to luck out on receiving extra 5-star weapons from a Wish, players can craft the necessary Prototypes themselves. This makes the Prototype Animus priceless in comparison to other powerful weapons, as generally speaking, well-refined lower-star weapons can outclass untouched 4 or 5-star counterparts.

The Prototype Animus boasts an admirable ability to go with its affordability: It boosts the user’s ATK stat, and upon every hit has a 50 percent chance of triggering an Area of Effect (AoE) attack that deals up to 480 percent of the character’s ATK. This effectively allows users to deal close to 500 percent of their ATK stat passively every 15 seconds. Unless future Genshin Impact updates add seriously explosive weaponry, this weapon will likely remain a top choice.

The Debate Club, a 3-star claymore, is another solid budget option if players aren’t able to craft a Prototype Animus. Its passive effect is a mini version of Prototype Animus’ AoE effect, and when fully enhanced, it can be remarkably helpful. On the other hand, some players are choosing to craft a Whiteblind with their Northlander Claymore Prototypes. This 4-star claymore offers DEF and ATK buffs, but pales in comparison to the sheer power offered by Prototype Animus. Razor, Diluc, Beidou, or even Noelle would all benefit from the Prototype’s perks, regardless of gameplay nuances.

Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, and PS4.
