Ghost of Tsushima: Legends – Best Class | Game Rant

After a long period of anticipation, Ghost of Tsushima launched to great success for Sucker Punch Productions. Now, it looks like the game will find a second wind thanks to a co-op mode narrated by one of Uncle Iroh’s voice actors.

The new mode for Ghost of Tsushima is titled Legends, and has a very different focus than the main game. Rather than a single-player quest for vengeance, it’s a supernatural co-op defense game. Players control one of four different classes to battle waves of evil spirits, and talents for each class vary greatly. Because each class can use all loot, and they all have a similar progression, which to use is often a matter of choice. Nevertheless, some classes are best in more situations.

A bow is an important tool for any Ghost of Tsushima player, as it can pick off dangerous targets at a distance. The Hunter’s role in Legends is ensuring melee teammates aren’t overwhelmed. However, part of the preparation for Legends is choosing a class to begin with, as the others are unlocked later. The Hunter generally makes a poor starting option, as against swarms of spirits a Hunter at close range wields less power. Add to that the fact that manual aiming in Ghost of Tsushima can be tricky, and the Hunter is probably the hardest class to recommend.

Assassin is the hardest-hitting class, especially at close range. The Assassin can make quick work of most foes and cover long distances quickly. However, against some of Legends‘ powerful enemies, the Assassin can’t take much punishment. The lack of staying power makes it a bit trickier to play than the remaining two classes.

The Samurai could be considered Legends‘ default class. It can fight effectively at close range and has a slew of self-healing abilities that make the class tankier. Samurai can hold the line against waves of foes easily and cut them down, making it great for solo play or as the center of a team. When learning how to play Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, it’s the Samurai that many will gravitate to, and it’s a good choice.

The Ronin can fight almost as well as the Samurai in close combat. It has a phantom dog, which players can presumably pet, and over time it unlocks healing powers that eclipse the Samurai. However, the real reason the Ronin is the MVP is its Ultimate. While all three other classes have damage ults, the Ronin revives players instantly. In a co-op game, the healer is king, and that makes the Ronin invaluable.

Ghost of Tsushima is available for PS4, and will be playable on PS5.
