The online last-man-standing Tetris 99 is seeing returned content, as Tetris 99 s 17th Maximus Cup is now live with a Pokemon Sword and Shield theme.
The event set sail on October 16 at 12:00 a.m. PT, and it will run until October 19 at 11:59 p.m. PT. To receive the Pokemon theme reward, players must collect 50 event points during the weekend. Event points are given based on rank placement and completion of matches. The game has seen multiple themed events since releasing for Nintendo Switch Online users, including an Animal Crossing event in Tetris 99 earlier this year.
Last November, Tetris 99 saw a Pokemon Sword and Sheild event to coincide with the launch of the Switch Pokemon games. This time, the Pokemon-themed event celebrates the Crown Tundra DLC that Sword and Shield will receive on October 22, an expansion that was first revealed all the way back in January. Nintendo of America recently tweeted the details of the Maximus Cup event.
For those who missed out on the first Pokemon-themed Maximus Cup, and for anyone excited about Crown Tundra DLC in Pokemon Sword and Sheild, now is a good time to snag those rewards before it’s too late. Soon, players may get lost within the highly-anticipated Crown Tundra DLC, but before that journey begins players have just enough time to grab the Pokemon theme in Tetris 99.
Tetris 99 is a game that is playable with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. The subscription provides online access to various games, including classic NES and SNES titles, as well as Switch Online exclusives like Tetris 99 and Super Mario Bros. 35.
