With the Xbox Series X launching in just under a month’s time, fans are excited about the next generation of gaming hardware. From first looks at launch games playing on the console to detailed overviews of how new features like quick resume work, Microsoft has also been dedicated to showing off what makes the console tick.
Its most recent showcase comes through a new trailer for the upcoming Dirt 5, with Xbox premiering a brief, 35-second teaser that highlights the racing title’s smooth gameplay. It’s noticeable from the offset that the game looks gorgeous, boasting a high frame rate and some high-resolution graphics.
The trailer cuts between a variety of Dirt 5 gameplay clips while showing some reviews from various publications. The gameplay itself looks like classic Dirt fare, seeing players race around off-road circuits against several AI opponents. The difference this time around is the detail that’s gone into the environments and vehicles. Mud splatters up from car wheels as they drift around corners, cars realistically reflect light sources, and the world itself pops with color. This is all complemented by Dirt 5’s smooth frame rate, which was recently reported to run at 120 FPS.
For those who haven’t been keeping up with Dirt 5, the next iteration of the popular arcade rallying game looks to the biggest to date, featuring a campaign and stunning visuals. The game will also feature a new Playground mode, which lets players build arenas that they can customize with an assortment of ramps and other fun items. Dirt 5 will be a launch game for the Xbox Series X, with a free upgrade for users who buy it first on Xbox One before switching over to the next-generation console.
It joins a series of other promising launch games for Microsoft’s newest hardware, including Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion, Enlisted, and Evergate. While the console’s lineup may not boast as many strong exclusive titles as Sony, which currently has Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon Souls, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure among others, it does offer Game Pass. The subscription service will likely make for a much smoother launch experience, with gamers able to access a host of new games day one, without having to worry about purchasing additional titles.
Dirt 5 will be available on November 6 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, November 10 for Xbox Series X, November 12 for PS5, and has a 2021 release date planned for Stadia.
