Despite the fans playing the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta, streamer NICKMERCs, and his friend Swagg, simply can’t bring themselves to play it. Instead, they spent their time playing Warzone and discussing why they both didn’t stream the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta.
Each year, Call of Duty titles are met with some level of community divide. Despite Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s success, there was still debate over its mechanics upon release. The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta is no exception to this divide, and NICKMERCS and Swagg are both on the negative side of fan opinion.
So far, many Call of Duty League pros, along with many other competitive Call of Duty fans, have high opinions of the beta. This sentiment doesn’t necessarily stretch to the streaming community, as many hold negative opinions. NICKMERCS and Swagg are both professional Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone streamers, and they have bothed expressed how mediocre they believe the new title is. They can’t find the drive to stream it, let alone play it for long periods of time.
The two Warzone streamers discussed Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s beta in a duos stream. This discussion was sparked by the fact that neither of them had taken part in the testing phase of the title. NICKMERCS asked if Swagg had played it, which then lead to some strong opinions about the upcoming title.
Swagg attempts to take the balanced approach, reminding NICKMERCS of their position as streamers, and that they should consider games from their individual points of view. It is not long before NICKMERCS cuts him off and lays down his raw opinion on the upcoming title. NICKMERCS says “That game is below-average and you know it. That’s the bottom line. If it wasn’t below-average, you and me would be on it right now.”
This opinion is not limited to only Swagg and NICKMERCS. There is a large number of streamers who have opted out of playing the beta and instead continued their normal Warzone schedule. While most fans can agree that there are improvements needed before Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War can launch, NICKMERCS says that he will not hold back his criticism on the upcoming title.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to launch on November 13th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
