New Spider-Man: Miles Morales Video Shows Text Conversation Between Peter and Miles

With the release of Spider-Man: Miles Morales almost here, it seems Insomniac Games is beginning to release more info than ever on its next entry in the Spider-Man universe. Recently, the developer showed off the game’s first boss fight with Rhino, a better look at Miles’ arsenal of powers, and a cat that wears a Spider-Man mask and can attack enemies.

The newest in the brief clips meant to advertise the upcoming game just released on Insomniac’s Twitter account, documenting a text conversation between Miles and Peter Parker. Although it mostly gives a new insight into the mentor and student dynamic of the two superheroes, the clip seems to also give a few hints as to why Miles Morales is all alone as the events of the new spin-off play out.

The conversation begins with Peter sending a picture of himself and Mary Jane to Miles, with the photograph appearing to show that the couple are on a trip away from New York. Miles talks with Peter about what he’s been up to since his mentor’s been away, discussing moving into a new house with his mother who he acknowledges is currently running for a seat on the city council – something fans discovered in September’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales gameplay trailer. Eventually, the talk gets to Spider-Man related events, with Miles hinting that the Roxxon Energy Corporation have armed guards protecting a public plaza that’s currently under construction.

Fans already know that Roxxon will be one of the central antagonists of the upcoming spin-off, making the events of this text conversation feel very relevant to the events of Spider-Man Miles Morales. The rest of the conversation discusses what it means to be Spider-Man, with Peter reminding Miles that there’s no “right way” to be a hero. It’ll be interesting to see whether the text message has given players their reason as to why Miles Morales has to face The Tinkerer and Roxxon alone, with Peter and MJ seemingly away on business.

The text conversation also gives another glimpse of Peter Parker’s new appearance, which was changed recently to better fit Yuri Lowenthal’s voice. Players still haven’t taken to the younger interpretation of the character, however, with the comments below the recent text conversation being filled with jokes about the uncanny nature of Peter’s new face. Hopefully, the change will grow on fans when they finally get their hands on Miles Morales and the remastered version of Marvel’s Spider-Man in just a few weeks’ time.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be avaliable on November 12 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
