Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – How to Get a Pumpkin Head

The Halloween event Haunting of Verdansk has added new content to both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone. Among this is the ability to gain a pumpkin head mid-match. While this cosmetic seems to be equipped at first, it instead must be earned throughout the Modern Warfare match.

To the disappointment of many fans, the pumpkin head is only temporary. Players must earn the right to wear a pumpkin mid-match in Modern Warfare while still competing for objectives and kills. Despite this, it is still fairly easy to earn a pumpkin head and even cause it to burst into flames. All it takes is a little luck, some skill, and a gun filled with ammunition.

Earning a pumpkin head in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare requires players to get three kills in a single life. If they manage to get 10 kills without dying, the pumpkin will ignite, giving it fiery eyes and a fiery smile to intimidate enemies. Keep in mind that the pumpkin head is temporary and will reset upon every death, but this still gives players an opportunity to earn it again upon the next life. This small addition to the Modern Warfare multiplayer experience gives the game a small dose of Halloween cheer without disrupting gameplay.

There is no way to permanently unlock a jack-o-lantern helmet, making it an exclusive opportunity tied to the Haunting of Verdansk event. The event will continue to progress until November 3rd, at which all the cosmetic changes to the game are expected to reverse.

The pumpkin head appearance is only one of several changes made across Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone. Fans have noticed that the Domination flags have been replaced with scarecrows, skulls replace the dog tags in Kill Confirmed, and a night mode has been added to the Warzone playlist.

Each of these add some much-needed Halloween flair to each match giving Modern Warfare a slight redesign. Players who have been enjoying the new Onslaughter mode may have seen a Juggernaut with a jack-o-lantern helmet patrolling the ground. For the remainder of the event, Juggernauts will come equipped with the flaming jack-o-lantern helmet automatically due to how difficult it is to earn one mid-match.

For more Halloween goodies, players should check out the limited time Trick or Treat event in Warzone. There are 16 possible rewards with a free blueprint at the end for players who manage to find every treat. Just watch out for the tricks, as they can get a bit spooky when unexpected.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
