Since it was announced, many players were excited for Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. Players began preparing for Legends’ co-op gameplay soon after the announcement, and after it dropped it hasn’t seemed to disappoint.
A couple of things separate Ghost of Tsushima: Legends from the main campaign. Rather than focusing on a single character’s journey, it’s a co-op focused mode. It pits players against deadly spirits, far more hardy and powerful than regular enemies. Each player uses one of four classes meant to work as a team, and earns gear to power them up. One of the most basic, but most powerful classes is the Samurai, and it’s often the first players pick up. Here’s a guide on how to build the Samurai for maximum power.
Every class in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends has two skills to pick from, one they start with and one unlocked at rank 10. The rank 10 skill for the Samurai boosts melee attack damage and makes attacks explode to hit nearby foes. However, players will likely use Spirit Pull instead. This skill, which drains health from a nearby foe when activated to heal the Samurai, is what makes the Samurai one of Legends‘ best classes. Spirit Pull doesn’t alert foes, heals a lot, and drains significant health with a 36-second cooldown.
Each class has three perk slots, and when breaking down the Samurai class‘ best build, it’s important to know which to pick. The most important slot is Perk 3, which can hold the most important Perk: Heavenly Strike, unlocked at rank 5. It allows the player to, at the cost of one resolve, perform a swift, unblockable strike. The other two slots can be left to choice, although Samurai Unleashed, which reduces cooldowns, is a solid choice.
A pro tip for all Samurai players is to take attention, but not damage. While this often means a solid defense, a good way to ensure less damage is to strike hard first, trying to shred enemies as much as possible. This can be done with a good Stone Stance weapon, as it gives access to Piercing Strikes. While different stances are effective only against certain enemies, Piercing Strikes are fast, distance closing moves no matter who players are fighting.
Players should opt for a damage boost charm that don’t give foes a chance to become a threat, relying on Spirit Pull and good defensive play to stay alive.
The most important aspect of the Ghost Weapon is not the weapon itself but a specific perk: Sudden Resolve. Using a Ghost Weapon with this perk instantly restores one resolve. No class guide for Legends would be complete without the synergy this provides. Using Sudden Resolve, players can instantly gain a resource to use Heavenly Strike, chopping a foe’s remaining health away. Thrown Dirt is a good Ghost Weapon to have, as it increases damage further. As for the second Ghost Weapon, Sticky Bombs or Smoke Bombs are usually solid.
Ghost of Tsushima is available for PS4.
