In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare getting a nuke is one of the few signs of true prestige. Aside from the fact that they are difficult to achieve, they can instantly turn the tide of any Modern Warfare match. While it is hard to achieve a nuke launching it can also be a problem in certain situations.
No one is safe from bugs in the world of Modern Warfare, as this surprised fan found out. It does not take much for programming to go wrong, double so in such a large game as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
The video was posted by Reddit user bigbeaver78 on what looks like a Ground War mission. In the distance, a nuclear warhead is slowly headed towards the ground after being called in by some unknown player. Rather than the fast rocket-propelled action that is expected from such a device, this player got to witness a rather slow descent into the ground. Not only is the rocket itself slow, but the explosion played out at a fourth of its normal speed. The results are still the same as the terrain and players are blown to bits, but much slower than normally would occur.
The comments range from jokes about the rocket’s speed to questions regarding the realism of a nuclear warhead in a normal Call of Duty match. Many players noted that bigbeaver78 is not the one lagging in this video, the nuke makes many fans question the stability of the server itself.
Some players say that the nuclear warhead’s lag in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the result of packet loss between the client and server. This does confirm that all players on the server would witness the same lag in the missile’s descent.
Still, it makes for a unique view of the otherwise unwatchable killstreak. Many fans enjoy seeing the nuclear animation from different viewpoints, especially after one clever player recorded a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare nuke clip from inside of another killstreak.
While this is probably a one-off glitch, it still makes for some interesting viewing as normally nuclear warheads move so fast that players barely have time to react. Hopefully, the servers stabilized and players could return to eliminating each other with nuclear warheads that move at a normal pace.
