With the Borderlands 3 Director’s Cut DLC on the way, as well as next-gen versions of the third Borderlands game, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has taken to Twitter to provide a special shift code for new players taking the fight to the Calypso twins. With three keys awarded from the special code, fans will certainly want to redeem this one.
Returning players will likely need all the good gear they can get for Borderlands 3’s Arms Race game mode as well, making the new SHiFT code useful for every Vault Hunter. The code in question is 5Z5JJ-36WX9-5R5XS-6JT3J-H535S, and like other SHiFT codes it can be redeemed directly in-game or via the SHiFT website.
Borderlands 3 fans will want to get the code redeemed quick, however, as Pitchford mentions within the tweet that the code expires in just a few days. If not redeemed by Monday, October 26 at 10 AM CT, players looking for free keys will be out of luck. Considering that there are only 3 days left to redeem the SHiFT reward, it would be a wise idea to load up Borderlands 3 right away and get to Sanctuary 3’s Golden Chest as soon as possible.
For players wondering if putting time into Borderlands 3 is worthwhile, Gearbox seems to be making a solid attempt to extend the game’s life cycle. Aside from the already solid post launch expansions that are available now, and the free content like takedowns that has been added in the past, the Bloody Harvest Returns Halloween event is currently ongoing and has brought some new cosmetic rewards with it.
Looking forward, Borderlands 3’s second season pass seems to have players covered for the next several months. Aside from the introduction of Arms Race, the new skill trees for all the vault hunters seem likely to keep fans busy. With each tree adding a new action skill that is enhanced by the abilities of the tree, such as a miniature Iron Bear for Moze or a Shoulder Cannon for Zane, it will likely take players some time to find the new best build for their character.
With the new Borderlands 3 skill trees and game mode only being the first of two expansions within the second Season Pass, Borderlands 3’s future seems like a bright one. With a few golden keys provided to get a head start on the current and upcoming content, now seems like a great time to jump into the latest Borderlands game — or give it a second chance.
Borderlands 3 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrades coming as the consoles launch.
