The Halloween event has finally arrived for both killers and survivors in Dead by Daylight. For 2020, the event is focused on the game’s newest killer, the Blight, due to the foreshadowing of his existence in previous years’ Halloween events.
With this year’s event, there is plenty for Dead by Daylight players of both sides to enjoy. However, there is one new event exclusive add-on available for all killers that can completely change how they play the game. This would be the Blight Serum.
As an add-on, this event item will take up a usual spot for a killer’s add-on item. Most event items are either offerings or survivor items, making this new event item a surprise for veteran Dead by Daylight players.
The Blight Serum is a special add-on that can give any equipped killer the ability to perform the Blight’s rush attacks. However, they will only have one charge that can only be replenished after hooking a survivor. While the killer has a rush charge, it will replace their normal Killer Power until it has been used. Killers cannot have more than one rush charge at a time.
When performing a rush, the killer will quickly dash forward. This can be helpful for certain killers during chases with survivors. The add-on however does note that the Blight Serum may have unknown effects on certain killers, so players are recommended to test around to see how it affects the different killers in their rosters.
In order to get a Blight Serum, players just need to keep putting blood points in their blood webs. During the Eternal Blight event, it has a chance to appear in killer blood webs alongside other event items. After the event is over, however, it will stop appearing in blood webs and can not be used in trials. Because of this, players are recommended to use them up before the event’s completion unless they want to keep one for a collection.
The Blight Serum can appear on the web of any Dead by Daylight killer and is not limited by original or third-party license killers. Lore-wise, it was created by Talbot Grimes before he was transformed into the Blight. It is also likely the source of the various mutated killer cosmetics that are released every year in Dead by Daylight for Halloween. It is unknown if the Blight’s experiments will continue into 2021 or if a new killer will take charge of future Halloween events.
Dead by Daylight is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X support is planned for 2020.
