Marvel’s Avengers has had a rocky start, but the devs are determined to continue listening to the community, making improvements, and building on the game’s dwindling playerbase. Although the core game itself is a full price game ($60 on most platforms) the ongoing profitability depends on a lot of microtransactions.
In addition to Challenge Cards (which are sort of like season passes full of challenges for each individual hero), there are also a lot of cosmetic items that are available at the cost of real world money. Those skins, emotes, nameplates, and takedowns rotate from the vendors on a weekly basis, so it’s easy to miss out on a purchase by mistake. Luckily, Marvel’s Avengers is offering an “in case you missed it” week that will hopefully become a recurring event.
The Marvel’s Avengers ICYMI week features a cosmetics vendor that rotates on a daily basis. Each day will feature a different set of costumes, emotes, takedowns, and nameplates that were previously available at some point since the game launched. The event is already underway and day two is currently active.
“This week is an “ICYMI” week! In case you missed any of our previously featured marketplace items, we’ll be revisiting all of them with daily refreshes. Not only that, your gifted credits will go further with discounts applied to all items! Enjoy!”
Players can visit the official Square Enix weekly game update to see a full preview for which items will be available each day this week. The daily rotation will continue for seven days (until October 28) and then the cosmetic vendor will likely revert to its usual rotation with a new set of items up for grabs.
This sort of opportunity seems like another direct response to fan feedback, which is definitely a good sign for the game. In Marvel’s Avengers wants to stay profitable and relevant, it definitely needs to continue making constant improvements on a weekly basis to keep the playerbase engaged, entertained, and growing.
As always, keep in mind that everything available in the real money Marketplace is purely cosmetic and doesn’t impact gameplay performance in anyway. That said, customizing a hero’s costume and the way they takedown opponents or show off with an emote is a major way to add some custom personality for each player. All of these items are 100% optional, but continue to be a pretty popular part of the game that a lot of players are very invested in.
Players should check back in the near future for more updates, news, strategy guides, and weekly rotation updates. Until next time, Avengers Assemble!
Marvel’s Avengers is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions currently in development.
