Pokemon Sword and Shield: How to Let Ring the Piercing Note and Catch Registeel

Players will encounter several ruins as they explore Pokemon Sword and Shield‘s The Crown Tundra DLC, and each one presents a riddle that must be solved. For instance, the Iron Ruins found near Freezington instruct fans to “let ring the piercing note that will wake the giant of steel,” and indeed its doors will not open until this is done. Fortunately, it is quite easy to let ring the piercing note in Pokemon Sword and Shield with just the bit of instruction found in this guide.

To put things simply, it is the character’s whistle that is being referenced by the riddle at the Iron Ruins, and unleashing it will give fans immediate access to the structure’s interior. For those Pokemon Sword and Shield players that may have forgotten, pressing on the left joystick of a Joy-Con or Pro Controller is the way to perform a whistle, and that should be done when standing directly in front of the ruins’ closed door.

Fans are now free to enter the Iron Ruins where they will encounter a statue and a series of circles on the ground. Stepping on these circles will cause them to illuminate, and players should activate all of them to bring the nearby statue to life. They should then approach the statue and interact with it to initiate a battle with Registeel, a Steel-type Legendary Pokemon that fans can catch with a bit of persistence.

Indeed, after whittling down Registeel’s health considerably fans should begin to throw Poke Balls at it, and eventually the Legendary will submit to being captured. While it may take quite a number of throws before this occurs, players should not lose hope, as they will assuredly prevail with patience. There is also the option for a fan to use their Master Ball in Pokemon Sword and Shield, if they have not done so already, though that is certainly not a requirement for catching this Pokemon.

After a player has let ring the piercing note and obtained Registeel, they can then work on accessing some of the other ruins in The Crown Tundra DLC. As with the Iron Ruins, these other structures are home to Legendary titans in Pokemon Sword and Shield, and many fans will certainly be happy to add these Pokemon to their collections. That said, players will ultimately be forced to decide between an encounter with Regidrago or one with Regieleki, and they will need to play through the expansion twice if they want to catch both of them.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available on Nintendo Switch.
