Fortnite had been a massive force in gaming since its release three years ago, and it is obvious that the game isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. Of course, much of Fortnite’s continuous success can be attributed to the new seasons and content that Epic Games has been adding to the game alongside crossovers that keeps it fresh and exciting for its loyal fanbase.
In the past, Fortnite featured incredible crossovers with other franchises such as Batman, John Wick, Star Wars, and many more. However, none have come as close to the strong partnership between Fortnite and Marvel, and Epic Games just confirmed that the relationship between the two mega franchises would continue beyond Season 4. It is worth remembering that Marvel first found its way into Fortnite during the launch of Avengers: Infinity War back in 2018 that spawned the popular Infinity Gauntlet mode.
Now, Epic Games’ Creative Director Donald Mustard talked about Fortnite and Marvel’s crossovers in the latest episode of the “This Week in Marvel” podcast. According to Mustard, the recent mashup between Fortnite and Marvel, which saw the release of more heroes and locations to the battle royale game, is just the beginning of a long partnership. “This is the start of lots of stuff we have planned for many years in this Marvel integration. Like, this is not the end. This is the beginning,” Mustard confirmed during the podcast.
Thankfully, this news would finally relieve some fans’ concerns, who initially thought that the current Marvel crossover will be the last. Shortly after the podcast, Mustard revealed in a tweet that he might have “dropped too many hints” with regards to the future of Fortnite. Of course, this is nothing but good news given that the tweet clearly suggests that more content, whether it be something related to Marvel or something else, will be introduced to Fortnite sometime in the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile, Fortnite’s Season 4 is still ongoing. While the current chapter may be all about Marvel at the moment, it appears that the superhero content will temporarily be put on hold as the game kicked off its Halloween event where players can expect to see changes that add Halloween decorations all over the map, alongside new spooky cosmetic items. Moreover, the biggest twist of the Halloween event is the new mode called “Fortnitemares.” In this year’s Forntnitemares mode, players are given the ability to come back as a killer Shadow after being eliminated, allowing fallen players to haunt and even troll the remaining survivors.
Fortnite is available now on the Epic Games Store, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are currently in development.
