For those who have been waiting for multiplayer on Beat Saber on PlayStation VR, the wait will have to be a bit longer. The mode has been delayed in Beat Saber PSVR until 2021.
Beat Saber has had good success in VR since it launched in 2019. Developer Beat Games Studio has continued to support Beat Saber with free content and various updates. In working on the multiplayer for the PSVR version, however, the developer let fans know that it needs just a bit more time.
In a recent tweet from the official @BeatSaber Twitter page, the developer explained that the multiplayer for the PSVR version of the game is taking longer than anticipated. While multiplayer went live in Beat Saber earlier this month for other platforms, the PSVR version is expected to be ready sometime in January of 2021.
In a follow-up tweet, the developer explained that multiplayer is highly complex in game development and that it needs to be approached slightly differently on every platform. It is a reminder of how difficult game development can be, and how a pinch of patience from fans will go a long way when it comes to server issues, multiplayer hiccups, etc. with developers and their games.
In the meantime, there are still plenty of great VR games to play in 2020, while waiting for Beat Saber multiplayer on PSVR. 2020 has seen a bit of a resurgence for VR, starting with Half-Life: Alyx, so the hope is that the momentum will continue with 2021.
Beat Saber is available now on Oculus, PC, and PSVR.
