10 Best Dark Side Characters in Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes

Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is a Star Wars mobile game developed by EA and Capital Games. It features a massive roster of characters from the Star Wars franchise, across the films, animated and live-action TV shows, and even the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic RPG games.

This roster of characters, factions, and groups may be overwhelming to the new player, and while cohesive teams are the best goal to aim for, there are some standout characters amongst the various factions. Dark Side factions are centered on the Separatists, Sith, Sith Empire, Galactic Empire, and Bounty Hunters, and each of these factions have units who excel beyond the mooks.

10 Sith Trooper

The Sith Trooper is a soldier who works best in First Order or Sith squads, and is a callback to the Sith Empire in which the Sith was a philosophy rather than the system known in the canon franchise, and common ground troops were considered to be Sith despite their lack of Force abilities.

The Sith Trooper may appear to be unimpressive at first, but this unit hits hard if in a squad with First Order or Sith allies. His Special ability, Vengeant Blast, deals damage to all enemies, plus 50% more damage for every currently defeated First Order or Sith ally. This ability means that the Sith Trooper becomes more aggressive for every ally defeated, and can destroy entire squads on his own if he’s the last one standing.

9 Count Dooku

Count Dooku was a key figure in the Clone Wars conflict. A leader of the Separatists and a Sith Lord, Count Dooku attacks and controls the battle with ruthless finesse. As a leader of the Separatists, his Leader ability, Nefarious Connections, grants his Separatist allies buffs and Counter Chance if they fall below 100% health.

Count Dooku is known for his use of the Makashi style, which is reflected in his Special ability, Master of Makashi, which grants him the ability Riposte, which ignores enemy protection when attacking out of turn. His use of Force Lightning along with his master of lightsaber forms makes him a formidable enemy to his opponents.

8 Emperor Palpatine

As Emperor and Dark Lord of the Sith, Emperor Palpatine is one of the most effective Sith and Empire characters on the roster. His Leader ability, Emperor of the Galactic Empire, is centered on giving buffs to Sith and Empire allies, while debuffing and otherwise debilitating Jedi and Rebel enemies. His Unique, Cackling Doom, inflicts damage equal to 20% of max health to Rebel and Jedi enemies at the start of their turns.

Emperor Palpatine can be acquired through the Legendary Event: Empire’s Demise. To complete all the tiers of the event, you need a squad of high level Rebels. Overall, Emperor Palpatine’s Legendary Event is one of the easiest on the roster to complete, which is a bargain considering he is such a powerful character.

7 Mother Talzin

The Nightsisters are a group of witches from Dathomir, which is also Darth Maul’s home planet. This shadowy organization live in the wilds of the planet, where they train in battle and the mystical arts which may or may not involve the Force. The Nightsisters were featured in the Clone Wars, and the Sith Apprentice Asajj Ventress were among their numbers. Their leader, Mother Talzin, forms the heart of SWGOH’s Nightsister squad.

Mother Talzin’s Leader ability, The Great Mother, turns the Nightsisters into a force to be reckoned with. This ability Revives a random defeated Nightsister ally per turn if a basic ability is used, making this team nigh on unbeatable, as well as the best option to defeat the infamous Geonosian squad.

6 Bossk

Bossk was one of the most infamous bounty hunters during the Clone Wars. A Trandoshan and warrior, Bossk also flies the Dark Side cargo ship, The Hound’s Tooth. Trandoshans are lizard-like aliens, with a culture centered around the dynamic of hunter versus prey. As such, Bossk has trained as a hunter and a bounty hunter his entire life, which is reflected in his skillset and abilities.

Bossk’s Leader ability, On The Hunt, grants 100% Defense to his Bounty Hunter allies. His contract is fulfilled when the weakest enemy is damaged 10 times, at which point his reward his activated and all Bounty Hunter allies gain +50 speed for the rest of the battle, as well as activating their Payouts. Bossk is one of the best Dark Side Bounty Hunters, and is an essential member of the squad at higher levels.

5 Geonosian Brood Alpha

The Geonosian squad is known to be one of the most powerful in the game. The Geonosian Brood Alpha in the Leader slot makes this squad nigh on unbeatable. The Geonosian are physically indistinguishable, which extends to their teamwork where they work as a single, cohesive unit rather than as individuals.

This is reflected in his Leader ability, Geonosian Swarm, which gives Geonosian allies +15,000 Max Health and increases their damage. His Unique, Queen’s Will, grants Hive Mind to all Geonosian allies. Hive Mind calls all Geonosian allies to assist whenever a turn, and their Health and Protection are equalized with other Geonosian allies.

4 Darth Vader

The iconic Darth Vader makes an appearance, and his recent ability upgrades have made him more menacing than ever. As the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader leads both Sith and Empire allies into battle. He uses a ruthless combination of lightsaber techniques and his natural affinity for the Force to crush his enemies, and is particularly adept at taking down Rebels and Jedi.

Darth Vader was recently updated and given the Special ability Merciless Massacre. This Special ability grants Darth Vader resistances and buffs, while giving him the ability to ignore taunting enemies. Additionally, Vader gains bonuses for each Sith and Empire ally and each Jedi and Rebel enemy, making him a flexible and formidable enemy who cuts down his enemies with ruthless efficiency and speed.

3 Bastila Shan (Fallen)

Bastila Shan is a familiar face to players of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic as she is the primary companion to the player character, and is voiced by Jennifer Hale of FemShep fame. Bastila, along with several other main characters of KotOR, feature in SWGOH despite not being a part of the Star Wars official canon (though that could one day change).

While Bastila’s Light Side counterpart is primarily a support unit, Bastila Shan (Fallen) is a powerful Force user with incredible Darth Revan synergy through her Unique ability Force Bond. Their Force Bond makes them a formidable power couple, not only because of the buffs and advantages they grant one another, but because of the increased damage they deal to enemies. Bastila Shan (Fallen) also debuffs her enemies, setting up increased damage from her allies’ attacks.

2 Grand Admiral Thrawn

Grand Admiral Thrawn has been a constant favorite amongst the Star Wars community. His first appearance was in the novels, but he was formally introduced into Star Wars canon with the animated show Star Wars: Rebels (a show which has begun to influence the video games) and his two book trilogies.

The Chiss Grand Admiral is a formidable leader who is both a ruthless tactician and merciless warrior. He’s best suited to leading Imperial Trooper squads, but his versatility is one of the best things about him, meaning he can seamlessly integrate into any squad. He can be acquired through the Legendary Event: Artist of War.

1 Darth Revan

Darth Revan is the pivotal character in the KotOR games, and there’s a good reason for that. Intimidating and powerful, Darth Revan brought the Republic and Jedi to their knees thousands of years before the Galactic Empire ever existed, and was only defeated when their apprentice, Darth Malak, betrayed his master and fired on their ship.

Darth Revan deals incredible damage which increases with their debuff, Ferocity. Their Special ability, Insanity, inflicts Fear on their enemies, which inflicts a range crippling debuff. Darth Revan also deals area damage, but their Leader ability, Lord of the Sith, makes their Sith Empire allies nigh undefeatable all while inflicting damage on enemy squads. Darth Revan can be acquired through the Ancient Journey: Scourge of the Republic.
