Customizing one’s island and expanding a house in Animal Crossing: New Horizons isn’t the most affordable thing, at least in-game. Certain town projects and decorative objects can wrack up a lot of bells, leading to buying and selling turnips becoming one of the more popular ways of quickly earning bells.
Normally, buying and selling of turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons carries a bit of risk, as players have no way of guaranteeing the price that the Nooks will offer to purchase them. However, for a limited time, that will change, as a new promotional collaboration with Ally Bank allows players to net a guaranteed 1,000 bells per turnip.
Ally Bank, in an effort to appeal to fans of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, has opened its own Animal Crossing island, dubbed Ally Island. Players can visit the island right now with Dream Island code DA-9350-9609-6289, by lying down in a bed and speaking with Luna. However, players will need to actually fly to Ally Island to net the buy price of 1,000 bells, via a code published on the Turnip Exchange during select windows of time. Players can visit Ally Island from October 23 to November 6, but the price (and Dodo Code) will only be available from October 23 to October 27, between 5 PM – 11 PM ET Monday through Friday, and Noon – 6 PM ET Saturday and Sunday.
Typically, players need to rely on Animal Crossing: New Horizons turnip calculators in order to determine when the best time to sell is. However, a guaranteed 1,000 bells is an extraordinary price and an opportunity that likely won’t come again for a very long time, if ever. It remains to be seen if this chance at making in-game currency will actually give Ally Bank a boost in new clients, but it should at least serve to raise recognition of the company.
Ally Bank isn’t the only one hoping to reach out to Animal Crossing: New Horizons players. Joe Biden, a 2020 U.S. Presidential candidate, recently opened up an island for anyone to come and visit in an effort to encourage players to vote. While players are unlikely to base their political leanings on a video game, it’s an interesting method of reaching out to the massive number of Animal Crossing: New Horizons players, especially during this time of social distancing.
As many people have gone back to work recently, they may be spending less time in Animal Crossing, and potentially don’t have any turnips to their name right now. However, the available turnip price dates overlap so that players can visit with Daisy Mae this coming Sunday and then sell them a few hours later, so everyone can take a shot at a serious boost in their in-game bank accounts.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for the Switch.
