Completionists have a lot to discover in Genshin Impact, simply given the game’s vast terrains and treasures. Those who’ve spent some time playing miHoYo’s newest release will have already started uncovering some of its secrets, which means that in-game Achievements have probably started announcing themselves as well.
Like many similar games, Genshin Impact features a long list of Achievements for dedicated players to steadily accomplish. As players fulfill the game’s requests, Achievement notices will light up the screen, confirming the completion of each one.
Most notably, Achievements give the gift of Primogems in Genshin Impact. Depending on the scale of the Achievement completed, the total reward varies, but generally speaking, it falls between 5 and 20 Primogems. In addition to Primogems, players will earn special “Namecard” styles upon completing themed sets of Achievements, which can then be used to customize their in-game profiles.
Some Travelers may have noticed that Genshin Impact‘s Achievements are marked with a sort of red and gold emblem, seen just to the left of each one’s title. Upon closer inspection, players will see that each of these emblems bears one to three star-shaped slots. So, what exactly are these “trophy stars?”
As Redditor u/SorryParking has kindly noted for players, the stars on an Achievement’s crest signify how many different repetitions of the task a player must perform before it’s officially completed. So, an Achievement bearing only one star will be completed once a player finishes the task at hand. However, Achievements bearing three stars, for example, require the player to successfully perform the task three different times before becoming complete.
Normally, if an Achievement features multiple stars, each instance of the task will grow in difficulty. For example, the Achievement titled “Onward and Upward” first requires a player to “Ascend a character to Phase 2 for the first time.” Once done, the task will reset, but players will instead have to Ascend a character to Phase 4 (and then one last time to Phase 6,) before completing the entire Achievement. Each stage of the Achievement also grants increasing amounts of Primogems, so players will also be able to double down on rewards when an Achievement is comprised of multiple parts.
These Achievements are basically the only avenue to new Namecard styles in Genshin Impact, so players who enjoy full-fledged customization will want to keep close track of their progress. They may not offer any in-game stat bonuses or free characters as rewards, but they definitely give friends and foes alike a clear picture of a Traveler’s commitment to the game.
Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, and PS4.
