The Final Fantasy fan community quickly flocked to Final Fantasy 7 Remake, creating all sorts of stellar fan art, theories, and cosplays to show off their appreciation for the new game. Some of these fans even include people who worked on the game itself, including Aerith voice actor Briana White, who recently released a new photoset of herself in a character appropriate cosplay.
Posted both on White’s Twitter account and the photographer Martin Wong’s Instagram account, the first couple of shots from the photoshoot show off the voice actor as her character, Aerith. The entire project is a collaboration to bring the Final Fantasy 7 Remake character to life, bringing the voice actor together with other cosplayers and makeup artists to fully realize the proper look.
While the photoset shows White in the outfit, the dress and hair ribbon that make up the majority of the cosplay were made by Twitch streamer and cosplayer Lady Zero, who has previously worked on related cosplays, like Terra from Final Fantasy 6. The makeup was also provided professionally, in this case by Twitch streamer and cosplayer @helloiamkate, who helped to bring the rest of the look to life for the photoshoot. With all of these different aspects covered, the cosplay came out bringing Aerith’s new look from the remake to life, with the game’s voice actor fitting the part visually as much as she did vocally.
This outfit isn’t the first time that anyone has cosplayed the character, and certainly won’t be the last, especially with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 on the way. However, it’s hard to find a more fitting cosplay than the latest actor to portray the character in her most successful representation since the original game. It’s interesting how a little makeup, a well-made outfit, and some stellar photography really allowed White to bring Aerith to life the same way she did with her portrayal in the game itself.
The fan community will likely have plenty more interpretations of the character as Square Enix continues to drip-feed the story over the next few installments of the remake series. Although, White and other fans might not want to get too attached to seeing Aerith in future Final Fantasy 7 Remake episodes, as these interpretations of the character are sure to get darker as the series reaches the climax of her story. Regardless, community projects like White’s recent cosplay are a great way for fans to continue enjoying the game as they wait for the next release.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available for the PS4.
