God of War will run at 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5 and will support your saved game data from PlayStation 4, developer Sony Santa Monica has confirmed.
If you decide to boot up God of War on your PS5 from November 12, you’ll be able to select a ‘Favor Performance’ option from the game’s menu. This will allow you to boost the game to 60fps. Though this option is available on PS4 Pro, we imagine the PS5 version will be more stable and consistently operate at around 60fps.
The developer has not made it clear if the resolution will go beyond 1080p if you choose this option, though.
Whether you’re picking up the game for the first time or looking to finish that NG+ save, God of War (2018) on the #PS5 will offer:

🎮 Save Transfers – start right where you left off on the PS4!— Santa Monica Studio Is Hiring (@SonySantaMonica) October 26, 2020
Additionally, you’ll be able to pick up from where you left off on PS4 thanks to Save Transfers. The developer hasn’t outlined exactly how this will work just yet, but it’s nice to know that you’ll be able to carry on from where you left off – or even start a nice New Game+ adventure – if you’re keen to ogle the game on next-gen tech.
If you’re keen for more Norse action, you’re in luck: Sony’s big PlayStation 5 Showcase in September ended with a teaser for a God of War sequel, which will apparently be called Ragnarok.
PS5 launches on November 12 and November 19 depending on your location.
