The community manager for 343 Industries has responded to a fan who is unhappy with the amount of news for Halo Infinite. Fans are anxious to hear more about the game. If it weren’t for the Infinite delay, the community would be playing the new Halo game in just 14 days along with the launch of the Xbox Series X. Instead, the game is still very much a mystery, which is something some fans are unhappy about.
John Junyszek is the community manager for 343, a job that certainly got a bit harder with the news of the delay of Halo Infinite. Playing the damage control role is likely not easy, and recently Junyszek did just that when communicating with a fan on Twitter.
A fan reached out to Junyszek, respectfully accusing 343 of “turtling up” recently. With the game now having an unknown release date, many are wondering when more concrete information will arrive. Junyszek disagrees with the turtle claim, however, as he says that 343 is still staying in communication with the community with updates on Halo Infinite. Recently 343 showed off two new renders of Infinite, including that of armor and a Warthog.
Even if disappointing, the delay of Halo Infinite was seen as a good thing by many. But while fans wait for the game, many are hoping for more news than simple renders. Junyszek admits to this, saying that the small bits of news may not be what fans are hoping for, but 343 is not turtling.
Unfortunately, Halo Infinite can’t seem to get out of its own way. Instead of being an exciting next-gen game, it has become the butt of many jokes. Infinite‘s gameplay reveal and Craig the Brute became a meme, as the game’s graphics were poked fun at, which may be part of the reason why the game was delayed.
Recently a Master Chief costume was revealed in time for Halloween, but again it became a meme on Twitter, instead of a rallying cry for enthusiasm and joy. There has been so much excitement building up behind Halo Infinite, but thanks to a lackluster reveal and a few missteps, the game is at a very odd place in terms of hype.
There’s a reason why the news is perhaps lacking for now for Halo Infinite. Even if fans want news, and not “turtling,” the hope is that the added time for development will help the game shine. When it is time for another big gameplay reveal, Infinite has the chance to blow gamers away with its scale and visual fidelity.
Halo Infinite is currently in development for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
