Animal Crossing: New Horizons Thanksgiving Event Predictions and Wish List

The autumn season in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is in full swing after Nintendo released the huge fall update last month. As expected, the latest content expansion has brought exciting new things in the game, such as new DIY recipes, a full-color scheme change to suit the season, and even a farming mechanic that allows players to plant and grow pumpkins.

The start of November means that Halloween is coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, alongside the huge Winter Update in late November. Apart from the decorations, the new DIY recipes, guest characters, and more, players should expect the Harvest Festival event, which will take place on Thanksgiving on November 26th. At the moment, details about the festival are few and far between, but here’s everything that we want to see at the upcoming event.

Ever since the beginning of the Animal Crossing franchise, Mayor Tortimer has been a constant presence in the games, serving as the mayor in the town the player is living in. Tortimer has appeared in every single Animal Crossing games except Animal Forest and New Horizons. In New Leaf, Tortimer has retired from his mayoral duties and has moved into his private island.

It is worth noting that Mayor Tortimer has been mentioned in both the Thanksgiving Harvest Festival and the Christmas Toy Day event in New Horizons. Additionally, the old mayor is frequently mentioned by both Franklin and Jingle, suggesting that he might make a surprise appearance in the Harvest Festival. At the moment, it’s difficult to say whether he’ll play a central role during the festivities, but it appears to be unlikely given that Franklin is confirmed to be the person (turkey) in charge of the festival.

Although Animal Crossing: New Horizons has only been out for less than a year, Nintendo has already introduced a wide variety of special characters such as Luna, Reese, Cyrus, Redd, and many more. However, players have wondered whether Brewster and his famous cafe will make a return in New Horizons. Unfortunately, Nintendo hasn’t made any official confirmation regarding his return. Still, it is worth noting that just like Mayor Tortimer, several villagers have mentioned his name in conversations, which may be a foreshadowing of his return to the game.

Of course, the huge Thanksgiving event is the perfect time for Brewster to visit Animal Crossing: New Horizons and maybe even open his famous coffee shop. Interestingly enough, Brewster was also discovered by dataminers within the game’s files, so his return to the game is all but confirmed. However, if Brewster fails to make an appearance this Thanksgiving, he is likely scheduled to appear in the Christmas event or probably even next year.

The huge fall update has brought new content to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, including the ability to plant starters and raise pumpkins. Of course, with the ability to grow food, another feature that Nintendo should include in the game is a full-fledged cooking mechanic. It is worth noting that cooking has always been a part of other life/farming simulator games such as Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Nintendo eventually adds it to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The cooking mechanic can also come in handy during the Harvest Festival, given that players can cook up a heartwarming dish to share with their neighbors during the holiday season. However, given that all other characters in the game are animals, players should expect that all dishes and recipes available in New Horizons should Nintendo introduce cooking will be 100% vegetarian.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now for the Nintendo Switch.
