This week, Bungie released a tidal wave of new information regarding not only Beyond Light, but the upcoming season as well. A new roadmap for Season of the Hunt gave players a overview of what to expect in the next four months from new content like the Empire and Wrathborn Hunts, Deep Stone Crypt Raid, Glassway Strike, and more. The recent information drop also gave fans a complete list of new exotic items coming in the upcoming expansions, including one that has never been mentioned before.
At the bottom of the Destiny 2: Beyond Light roadmap features a full list of new exotic weapons and armor. The current list includes twelve new items that include a mix of familiar and new like: Hawkmoon, Cloudstrike, No Time To Explain, Duality, Salvation’s Grip, The Lament, Icefall Mantle, Mask of Bakris, Athyrs’s Embrace, Dawn Chorus, Necrotic Grip, and Precious Scars.
While many of these have been featured in a recent Beyond Light trailer like the Warlock’s Necrotic Grip, Hunter’s Mask of Bakris, and the Titan’s Icefall Mantle, the list does include a previously unmentioned weapon called Duality. There’s almost no information to go on as to what this weapon is, though it could be something tied to an exotic weapon quest mentioned in the roadmap or perhaps a secret that will reveal itself as Season of the Hunt goes on. The community tends to enjoy discovering secrets that Bungie has hidden throughout the franchise’s history.
In addition to No Time To Explain, the list also contains the fan favorite Destiny 1 hand cannon, Hawkmoon. Confirmed to be finally returning after a developer reveal stream earlier in the year, Hawkmoon will likely be part of a quest and according to Luke Smith, the team is going to take the weapon in a new direction. This likely means that its old perks, Luck in the Chamber and Holding Aces, will be removed in favor of less random damage boosts.
In addition to the full list of exotics, the reveals this week have also provided a bit of clarity regarding the former Prince Uldren. While fans were convinced that the masked Guardian within the Cosmodrome named Shaw Han was actually Uldren, the recent ViDoc footage quickly disproved that theory. Prince Uldren Sov, now a guardian under the name The Crow, which a nice wink and nod to his former storyline before Destiny was rebooted, saves Osiris from a Hive Knight and joins the player in the hunt for the other sister of Oryx, Xivu Arath. How the other members of the Vanguard react to Uldren, even though he doesn’t retain his old memories anymore after being revived, should be pretty interesting.
Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and the Beyond Light expansion will be released on November 10. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are currently in development.
