No Man’s Sky Halloween Update Adds Spooky Details | Game Rant

The spacefaring comeback game No Man’s Sky is getting into the Halloween spirit this week with the new update that will give players chills. With No Man’s Sky’s Origins update passing by, the developer is moving on to provide players a new experience for the spooky holiday.

No Man’s Skys previous updates have added new planets and alien life forms for players to interact with, and now the game will be receiving a bit of both as Halloween draws near. For this Halloween, Hello Games plan to deliver the 3.05 patch update to not only tweak the game’s bugs and fix issues but also give players new looks, new loot, and new alien enemies to fight. A key part of the patch is the revitalized locations from past updates.

According to the update notes, Hello Games is building on top of No Man’s Sky’s Desolation update to add more content for players this time around. The developer is breathing new life into the haunting starship wrecks from the Desolation update with valuable Tainted Metal and Quicksilver materials. These materials are largely used to draw players back to the dreaded ships with tangible payoff for doing so. On top of that, the ships have freezing sub-zero environments, tougher security systems, and the alien occupants have mutated into deadlier forms making them stronger enemies to face.

Players who make it through No Man’s Sky’s ghost ships will be able to exchange the gathered Tainted Metal and Quicksilver with scrap dealers for a variety of new items, base decorations, and customizable cosmetics. Some of the new decorations lean more to towards the sci-fi horror direction including various banners, decals, a “sinister” Orange Postule, and the traditional Detoxified Slime to infest a player’s base and really get the place looking like an alien xenomoroph’s nest. Not to mention, players will be able to purchase a new alien Wriggling Companion to really set the mood for a haunted sci-fi base.

To top it all off, the update will even provide players a brand new helmet to wear, specifically, the Horrific Flesh-Helmet. Essentially, a helmet where players wear a “flesh-hungry parasite” on their heads that comes with a moving mouth, menacing teeth, and a blinking cyclopean eye. It’s similar to the Half-Life head crabs in Death Stranding, only the helmet stares back at you. Though no exact amount is given, the notes recommend players save up their Tainted Metal in order to purchase the new freaky helmet.

Players can look forward to the new No Man’s Sky content from the Halloween update before the holiday arrives this weekend.

No Man’s Sky is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
