Nintendo surprised fans today by releasing a new mini Nintendo Direct. This Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase was filled with announcements big and small, though one title from Hal Laboratory looks particularly cute; Part Time UFO, and it’s available now.
Sandwiched around announcements like Control heading to the Nintendo Switch and updates on Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was a small game from the developers of the Kirby series. Part Time UFO has players helping people from around the world as a tiny and adorable UFO.
The four-minute video from the Direct is now on YouTube, highlighting the crazy tasks that players will be doing, including picking up oranges from a truck, building construction, and stacking animals on top of an elephant at the circus. Levels seem to get wackier over time, including a Treasure Island course that has players dodging plumes of lava. There is even a sighting of Kirby and his friends (or enemies in the case of King Dedede) in the game.
Part Time UFO also has co-op gameplay, looking and feeling similar to a game like Snipperclips, a Switch launch game that was a darling hit. Players will also be able to save up in-game currency to buy costumes, including a ninja cloak and a sailor cadet. Whether it is piling up food for a cook, fishing out massive sea life for an old fisherman, or stacking cheerleaders sky high, Part Time UFO looks like a charming and goofy time on the Switch, and the fact that the game is available immediately is a nice little bonus.
