Fans got a good look at how Call of Duty: Black Op Cold War will look on PC today with the release of the game’s official PC launch trailer. The brief video also confirms the return of a COD staple: the FAMAS assault rifle.
The official PC trailer shows off 4K footage of Black Ops Cold War powered by NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 30 Series. But the trailer highlighted more than the game’s graphics, as the new footage also confirmed that the FAMAS is returning to Black Ops. The rifle has become as staple in the world of Call of Duty, appearing in the first three Modern Warfare games, the original Black Ops, and Warzone.
The FAMAS is known among fans for its predictable recoil pattern, fast fire rate, and decent-sized magazine. In Black Ops, it had a reputation as one of the most overpowered guns in the game, even after it was nerfed several times. Though the FAMAS is confirmed to be back in Black Ops Cold War, it is still non known whether it will come in the full auto or semi auto form.
The FAMAS is not the only weapon that the new trailer confirmed to be returning. Players also got a brief look at the China Lake, the American pump action grenade launcher that was featured in Black Ops, Black Ops: Declassified and Black Ops 3. The weapon has varied from game to game, as it was known as one of the weakest weapons in Black Ops but became significantly more powerful in later games.
Aside from revealing the returning weapons, the main highlight of the trailer was how Black Ops Cold War will look on a high-powered PC. The results are photorealistic environments and explosions that send light reflecting off the surfaces of vehicles and guns. According to a post on the Call of Duty blog, Black Ops Cold War includes NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and Reflex Technology. DLSS uses AI to create sharp, hi-fidelity images while rendering fewer pixels. According to the post, players will be able to select from three settings options – quality, balanced, and performance – to fine tune their gaming experience.
The trailer gave fans a looks at a new location in Black Ops Cold War as well. It appears that players will be going back to the 1960s for a Vietnam sequence. The trailer briefly shows a helicopter landing in a rice paddy as it takes fire from soldiers hiding in the jungle. The trailer also revealed two weapon skins for fans who digitally preorder the game.
Black Ops Cold War looks like it will be one of this year’s best-looking games on PC. Players might want to look up Black Ops Cold War’s PC requirements to make sure their rig can make the game look as good as the trailer.
