As the next-generation of consoles inch closer, so does one of this year’s biggest releases, with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla set to launch on November 10. The game will take the series to the Viking era, seeing players follow Eivor and their clan as they look to fight back the British armies and find a home in England.
Of course, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a game all about Vikings, and thus raiding, looting, and engaging in action-packed battles are crucial skills the player must utilize as they aid Eivor and their allies. To help teach them the ropes, Ubisoft has released a new TV spot centered around the game’s charismatic protagonist teaching the player how to be the best Viking possible.
The trailer begins by showing the male version of Eivor leading his forces into battle by longboat, with the protagonist pondering how to become’s England’s “new landlord.” It doesn’t take long for Eivor to answer that question, landing on the shore of a nearby English settlement and engaging in a fierce battle with enemy forces. Throughout the trailer, Eivor continues to talk to the viewer, instructing them how to dress, how to act, and how to loot like a Viking. As he finishes pillaging his way through the English settlement, he takes a moment to remind players that their goal is to live on in history and earn a place in Valhalla, before leading his troops into the distance.
The trailer is capped off with the hashtag brandished in most of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s merchandise and commercials so far, with #LikeAViking appearing on the screen in bold text. Building on the action-RPG focus of both Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the newest iteration in the franchise looks to be the biggest to date. Not only will it feature a huge world filled with things to see, do, and loot, but it will be the first iteration of the game to debut on next-generation hardware.
Speaking on enhanced versions of the game recently, Ubisoft revealed that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will feature a 4K resolution and run at 60 FPS, while both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X’s SSDs mean that it will boast incredible load times. Meanwhile, its release on PlayStation 5 will also come with enhanced audio due to the console’s Tempest 3D audio system and hand-tuned responses thanks to the DualSense’s immersive haptic feedback settings. The game’s next-gen upgrades will be free to both players on Series X and PlayStation 5.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla launches on November 10th for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It will release for PlayStation 5 on November 12th.
