With only a few weeks left until Bungie’s highly anticipated Destiny 2 expansion Beyond Light, the studio has continued to release even more information about it. Earlier this week saw a nearly 15 minute ViDoc about the expansion and its accompanying season as well as a cinematic launch trailer. Fans now have a better idea of how the game’s economy and progression are changing in a few weeks as well, including a full list of every item being removed by Bungie.
This week’s Destiny 2 blog post held a lot of new information for players including a full report on economy changes. Questions began to rise regarding how Bungie was planning to handle many of the current items associated with the various destinations that are leaving the game in November. As it turns out, most items are simply going to be deleted automatically right from the player’s inventory. This should save players a lot of time and effort manually going through every item on a case by case basis though it should also make those who are constantly hitting the maximum capacity limit quite happy.
Starting on November 10, the following list of items, quests, and currencies are being removed from all player inventories for Year 4:
- Advanced Paradox Amplifiers
- Adventure Tokens
- All Bounties and Quests from Season of the Forge, Season of the Drifter, and Season of Opulence
- All Ritual and Pinnacle Weapon Quests (the gear will become available in our Monument to Lost Lights Exotic Archive)
- Black Armory Schematic Consumables
- Boons of Opulence
- BrayTech Schematic
- Cayde’s Odds and Ends
- Concentrated Radiolarian Culture
- Dance Party Keys
- Expired Ramen Coupons
- Faction Wars Materials
- Faded Card
- Five of Swords Challenge Card
- Forge Polymers
- Imperials
- Letter Fragments
- Loot-a-Palooza Keys
- Lost Memory Fragments
- Modulus Report Consumables
- Motes (Weak, Middling, Powerful): Collector, Invader, Reaper, Sentry
- Notes From Cayde
- Obsidian Accelerators
- Obsidian Radiance Temper Effect (including those applied on weapons)
- Override Frequencies
- Paradox Amplifier
- Radiant Matrix
- Radiolarian Culture
- Rasputin Armory Codes
- Resonate Stem Consumables
- Runefinder
- Synths: Collector, Sentry, Invader, Reaper
- Tokens: Dead Orbit, Future War Cult, New Monarchy
- Transcripts
- Treasure Maps: EDZ, Titan, Io, Nessus, Mercury, Hellas Basin (Mars)
- Wealth of the Emperor Buffs
Game economy has clearly been a big focus for Bungie in advance of Beyond Light. However, the company is warning players that even though it is removing a lot of items by default, some will have to be dealt with manually. With a number of destinations leaving the game, their planetary materials will apparently be left behind without a use. While players will still be able to trade them to Spider for a reduced reward, Bungie is instead advising that players act now and turn in all Phaseglass Needles, Alkane Dust, Simulation Seeds, and Seraphite to Spider to maximize their value.
Speaking of the shady merchant, Bungie is also refreshing The Spider’s inventory, something which hasn’t changed in quite a while. While he’s losing Legendary Shards entirely due to the low usage rates from players, he’s gaining Enhancement Prisms. Players can pick up three a week at a cost of 400 Legendary Shards. Enhancement Cores no longer have an ascending cost, but players can only purchase a maximum of five a day for 30 Legendary Shards each. Bungie promises this new system is ultimately cheaper than the current system.
Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and the Beyond Light expansion will release November 10. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are currently in development.
