Due to exceptionally high demand driven by the global pandemic, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 and 3090 cards are in short supply. That means that for many gamers out there, the most reliable way to get their hands on these high-demand cards will be ordering through builders such as Origin PC, which is now offering desktop builds with Nvidia cards.
The Florida-based computer building company is now including 30-series Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics cards in some of its desktop PCs. Gamers can customize their PCs using the website’s built-in tools, which should help to satisfy those who would rather build their own PCs.
Origin PC CEO and co-founder, Kevin Wasielewski, describes the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30-series cards as, “a must-buy for gamers, professionals, and enthusiasts seeking the best possible PC gaming graphics performance on the planet.” Right now, Origin PC has 4 “gaming” PCs and four “workstation” PCs eligible to be customized with the 30-series Nvidia cards. The Chronos, Neuron, Millennium, and Genesis desktop gaming computers have RGB lighting and liquid cooling available, while the S-Class, M-Class, and L-Class models are designed to be less flashy workhorses.
The smallest gaming PC on offer, the Chronos V2, is a small form-factor machine that costs $2283 USD with an 8GB Nvidia RTX 3070 graphics card. Its workstation cousin, the S-Class, is $2260 USD with the same graphics card. They both use the Origin Chronos case, which is a short tower available with either a mesh or tempered glass side panel.
On the more expensive end of the spectrum, the Origin Genesis super tower comes out to $3989 when an Nvidia 24GB GeForce RTX 3090 card is factored in. Prices can jump even higher if the customer wants to customize the machine further with a custom paint job, an HD UV design printed on tempered glass, or a custom laser-etched engraving. Customers will have to be patient, however, if they want their machine to have a 30-series card other than the 3070. Adding an Nvidia 3080 or 3090 graphics card can make the estimated shipping time jump from 6-8 business days to up to 29-31 business days.
Unfortunately, laptops and pre-built machines do not have the 30-series listed as an option for obvious reasons. It may be some time yet before Nvidia 3070 graphics cards in laptops are commonplace, so gamers on the go will have to continue waiting. Those who are fine with getting a 20-series Nvidia card should note that Origin PC is having an October promotion in which they can get free ground shipping and a number of bonus digital games if they order before Halloween.
