Pokemon GO: Dataminers Find Long Awaited Feature | Game Rant

Niantic has released updates to Pokemon GO on a near-constant basis since the game’s debut. Players often expect a change in gameplay, whether it be a new item to take advantage of, or a new Pokemon to capture.

That said, Pokemon GO players often expect changes nowadays to consist of new Shiny Pokemon, or an added Raid Boss, if not a change to the rotating egg pool. With the game having been out for several years now, changes to the core structure, and new gameplay mechanics, become rarer and rarer; which makes this discovery all the more exciting.

Well-regarded leakers and Pokemon fans, the PokeMiners, have shared their discovery of a new quality of life adjustment coming to Pokemon GO. Apparently, “long pressing” on a Pokemon in the player’s inventory will soon allow Pokemon Trainers a quick glimpse at the Pokemon’s HP and known moves.

This is particularly noteworthy because up until now, Trainers have lacked an efficient way to check their Pokemon’s moves. Every time a Pokemon Trainer wants to see whether a particular Tyranitar knows Bite or Stone Edge, for example, they would have to open up that particular Tyranitar’s stat page. This can become increasingly time-consuming, and makes selecting teammates for time-sensitive Raid Battles a bit infuriating at times.

Thankfully, Niantic seems to have finally responded to the pleas of many, and implemented a simple and effective solution to the problem. “Long pressing” is simply when a person holds down a button in-game, so players will simply have to touch a highlighted Pokemon for a second or two to display its current moveset and HP. This seems to be doable from the party select screen, which means that Pokemon Trainers should expect to be able to do this when queued up for a Raid Battle, or when readying up for a battle against one of the Team GO Rocket Leaders.

This leak aside, it doesn’t seem like Niantic has any major interface changes planned for Pokemon GO‘s imminent future. As it is, the game’s Pokemon and Egg Inventory menus have looked about the same since launch, so any improvements to the existing interface designs would be eagerly welcomed by fans.

And before these changes even take effect, players can encounter the new Costumed Sableye and Gengar, who’ve been roaming the wild for some days now. Moreover, Pokemon Trainers can look forward to the powerful Alolan Marowak to be featured with free Raid Passes on Halloween Day. Between these spooky events and the incoming QoL adjustments, Pokemon GO players can expect a well-celebrated end of October.

Pokemon GO is available now on the App Store and Google Play.
