Apex Legends Season 7 Adding Brand New Hop-Up for Wingman and RE-45

As Season 7 of Apex Legends, called Ascension, approaches, more details are being revealed. Just yesterday, some skins from the Battle Pass were revealed, including snazzy Wraith and Octane skins. Now, streamers and content creators who have gotten the chance to play the season early are revealing some of the other new additions that fans can look forward to next, like a new hop-up for the Wingman and RE-45 pistols.

The Wingman and RE-45 have had hop-ups before; the Skullpiercer and Disruptor, respectively. The Skullpiercer hop-up has been around for four of Apex Legends’ six seasons, but the Disruptor hop-up was only available in Season 2.

The RE-45 and Wingman will be getting a new hop-up in Season 7 of Apex Legends called Quickdraw. Quickdraw will give the two side-arms a faster draw, better accuracy when firing from the hip, and a faster aim time. The exact numbers for these buffs have not yet been released, but likely will be when Respawn puts out patch notes for Season 7 this coming week. Many of the streamers and content creators invited to play Season 7 early are citing the hop-up as a great incentive to use the Wingman and RE-45 as a secondary weapon.

Season 7 looks to be Apex’s largest yet, with not only a new legend being added, but also the game’s third map and first ever vehicle. The new legend, Horizon, boasts gravity-based powers, with a tactical that can boost players into the air and an ultimate that draws enemies in and damages them.

Season 7 starts on November 4, leaving Tuesday for the election being held in the United States. November 4 will also be the same day that the Steam version of Apex Legends finally releases, with support for cross-progression alongside the Origin version of the game and cross-play with all platforms. Unfortunately, the announcement of the release date for the Steam version of the game came alongside the announcement of a delay for the Nintendo Switch version, which will now release sometime next year.

In the run-up to Season 7, the game’s second year of Fight or Fright is still ongoing, with a new Shadowfall Royale mode. The mode is similar to last year’s Halloween mode, but shadows now have the ability to wall-run and double-jump ala Titanfall, developer Respawn Entertainment’s other popular series.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with the Steam version launching on November 4 and a Switch version arriving sometime next year.
