For months, rumors have been swirling that Sony and Konami have been collaborating on a Silent Hill PS5 exclusive game. These rumors have stemmed from proven, reliable sources, who have said that the game is still set to be revealed by the end of 2020. Now that major Sony State of Play events and the Tokyo Game Show have come and passed, fans are left wondering when such a reveal could take place. However, a new rumor making the rounds online claims to leak the exact Silent Hill PS5 exclusive reveal date.
This rumor stems from business analyst Roberto Serrano on Twitter. When it comes to video game leaks, Serrano has a somewhat mixed track record. He has accurately leaked PlayStation 5 news in the past, but he has also been incorrect about things, like when he was wrong about the PS5 price and release date reveal date. But while fans should certainly take this information with a grain of salt, a Silent Hill PS5 exclusive has been leaked by other sources in the past, and not only that, the leaked reveal date makes a lot of sense.
If Serrano is correct, the Silent Hill PS5 exclusive reveal date will take place at The Game Awards on December 10. The Game Awards has become a major event for the industry, and has hosted big Konami-related reveals in the past. With The Game Awards being essentially the last big gaming event before the year is out, if the Silent Hill PS5 exclusive is going to be announced in 2020, it makes the most sense for the announcement to happen then.
Since the Silent Hill PS5 exclusive hasn’t been announced in an official capacity, details on what the game may entail are hard to come by. However, previous rumors have suggested that development of the Silent Hill PS5 exclusive is taking place at Sony’s Japan Studio, with original Silent Hill director Keiichiro Toyama returning to helm the newest game. Toyama is supposedly joined by Silent Hill 2 composer Akira Yamaoka and longtime Silent Hill developer Masahiro Ito, if the rumors are to be believed.
Beyond that, it’s said that the Silent Hill PS5 exclusive is a reboot of the franchise, meaning players should be able to jump in without having played any of the other games in the series. Hopefully more information on what this means in terms of the gameplay and story come to light at The Game Awards – assuming that the announcement is happening at the event as rumored.
Even if the Silent Hill PS5 exclusive doesn’t make an appearance at The Game Awards 2020, the event should still have plenty of big game reveals for fans, so it will be worth tuning in regardless.
Silent Hill is rumored to be in development as a PS5 exclusive.
