Recent reports show that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson received a custom Xbox Series X from Microsoft, featuring his logo and signature on the console itself. There’s still a lot of confusion surrounding this particular situation, as there hasn’t been any confirmation from Xbox or The Rock about whether or not the image is real or what the purpose of it is, but fans love seeing custom next gen consoles anyway.
There are a couple reasons that Microsoft might give an Xbox Series X to The Rock, with perhaps the most compelling being his involvement in the announcement of the original Xbox. 19 years ago, he teamed up with Bill Gates to reveal Microsoft’s first foray into the world of console gaming, and now some fans think things are coming full circle.
Given that next year will be the 20th anniversary of Xbox, fans are speculating that some pretty major events are going to happen soon. One such event could be a similarly styled reveal featuring The Rock once again, but this time showing off the Xbox Series X.
On the other hand, it’s possible that this console wasn’t given directly to The Rock for his own personal use. Some fans point out that the fact that it has his name and logo on it could indicate it’s for him to give away. Companies will frequently use celebrity clout as a method of advertising their product, and this would be no different. The Rock actually has a history of giving away Xbox consoles, as back in 2016 he gave away custom Xbox One consoles before they released to children as part of the Make a Wish foundation.
Despite all of this, seeing The Rock with a custom Xbox Series X is odd, especially after Xbox head Phil Spencer decried celebrities asking for free stuff just days earlier. Others still think the image could be photoshopped, as there hasn’t been much in the way of official reporting on it. Given time, internet sleuths will likely get to the bottom of it, and if it is in fact real, fans can expect to hear something from Microsoft or The Rock himself about the situation in the near future.
Regardless of whether this is fake, a free Xbox Series X for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, or a console given to him as part of some kind of give away, the design is pretty neat. The bull logo in the top right is The Rock’s logo, and it even has his signature on the bottom. The image is too low resolution to read what the quote says on the bottom, however.
