After waiting patiently for years, Minecraft players are rejoicing now that they’ve finally received the heavily requested cave update. One Minecraft fan is clearly waiting for more content from another franchise, though, as they have gone out of their way to completely recreate the Starcourt Mall from Stranger Things season 3.
Instead of freaking out over the addition of the Warden to Minecraft, Redditor NesquickBBboi was hard at work on building the detailed mall from the show. The mall is seriously well-detailed, as it is full of the same 80’s nostalgia that the original version of the building provides. With a fully modeled exterior and interior, Starcourt Mall translates extremely well to the blocky Minecraft universe.
With Stranger Things season 4 set photos appearing online, the next season is still far away from its late 2021 release date. NesquickBBboi’s strategy of keeping busy during the wait certainly seems effective, though, as the mall took the player 2 days to build. Everything from the carpeted red entryway to the massive stairways are there, with the Starcourt name being seen above the mall’s main hub area. Many of the shops, such as “Scoops Ahoy!” where Steve worked in the third season, can be viewed as well. The player included every detail from the show, even adding a parking lot and storage truck behind the building.
While the world currently cannot be explored by other players, as NesquickBBboi has been working on it “for nearly four years now,” the Redditor is considering putting it online for fans to download. This Stranger Things recreation is yet another amazing example of what can be made within Minecraft, as other players have been hard at work on other neat projects. One fan created a Cyberpunk 2077 scene in Minecraft with a shocking amount of detail, fully capturing the neon-filled Night City within the building game.
With even Tomb Raider 2’s director making movie sets in Minecraft, there are few limitations as to what dedicated players can do if they set their minds to it. For players who lack the creative spark shared by players like Starcourt Mall designer NesquickBBboi, however, destruction is always an option. Reddit user HenSmiles replied to the post showing off all the hard work with “now blow it up,” and surprisingly, the mall’s creator replied to the funny request by saying they would “do a destroyed version sometime soon.”
For players more eager for info on Minecraft’s next update as opposed to awesome fan builds, Mojang has shared info on another new mob. Though it may not be as interesting as the Glow Squid or as cute as the Axolotl, Minecraft’s new Mountain Goats should shake things up a bit and will likely be seen walking through towns and Stranger Things shopping malls alike.
Minecraft is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
