All Silent Hill Rumors About Konami’s New Game | Game Rant

It has been eight years ever since Konami released a new Silent Hill game, and fans of the psychological-horror franchise are beginning to lose hope on whether a new Silent Hill will ever see the light of day. For the most part, Konami has been relatively quiet on the state of the Silent Hill franchise, and nothing official, apart from a crossover with Dying Light, has been released in years.

At the moment, the only thing that is keeping the Silent Hill franchise in the consciousness of the video game community are rumors and speculation about a new game. Now, for those who are interested to know on whether or not a new game will be released sometime in the future, here are all the rumors surrounding the Silent Hill.

Just a couple of days ago, a rumor surfaced online that Konami has been secretly collaborating with Sony for a new Silent Hill game exclusive to the PlayStation 5. The rumor came from business analyst Robert Serrano, who has a mixed track record when it comes to making predictions in the video game industry, so players should take this rumor with a grain of salt. Now, according to Serrano, this PS5 exclusive Silent Hill game will be revealed by the end of 2020. It’s worth noting that a good majority of video game events such as Sony’s State of Play and Tokyo Game Show have come and passed, but nothing was said about a new Silent Hill game.

However, there is still The Game Awards, which is no stranger to being a venue where developers make surprise announcement of their games. Unfortunately, specific details about this PS5 exclusive game were not revealed, so it is unclear whether this game will be a new installment to the franchise, or a remake of any of the older games assuming it even exists. Nonetheless, there are only two months left for this year, so players won’t have to wait for too long to find out whether this rumor is true.

Last month, developer Sam Barlow who was the lead designer and writer behind Silent Hill: Shattered Memories revealed last September that he is working on a new game that is a spiritual successor to Shattered Memories. According to Barlow, he is not a liberty to discuss the game further, given that he was still in the process of pitching the idea at the time. However, the developer clarified on Twitter that this new project is not the same as Project A. Of course, while this new project is likely not a new Silent Hill game, it may still give fans of the franchise and Shattered Memories something to look forward to, especially since Konami has been silent on whether or not Silent Hill has been shelved for good.

As previously mentioned, Konami has been keeping quiet on the state of the Silent Hill franchise leaving fans with nothing but rumors and speculation to cling to. However, it’s worth noting that several months ago, Konami appears to have been making subtle actions to bring back Silent Hill to the consciousness of its fanbase. This all started in August when Konami released a cryptic tweet that contained audio of Silent Hill 2’s iconic siren. The tweet’s caption reads “Close your eyes. Always scary. Silent Hill 2 Siren.” As soon as the tweet was published, Silent Hill fans were ecstatic and thought that the studio was about to make a Silent Hill-related announcement.

Unfortunately, Konami issued a statement saying that the tweet was only meant to promote the Dead by Daylight crossover. While Konami’s explanation makes sense, it’s worth noting that the studio also redirected fans to a new Silent Hill twitter account, saying that any official news about the game will be posted there. Of course, while Konami never mentioned anything else about a new Silent Hill game, it is unlikely for the company to create a new Twitter account for the Silent Hill franchise if it has no plans to release a new game sometime in the foreseeable future.

In the end, the fate of the Silent Hill franchise is still uncertain. Sure, there have been rumors claiming that a new game is in development, but unless Konami confirms this, they are nothing more but just rumors. Hopefully, the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X this month would also usher in a new era for the Silent Hill franchise.

A new Silent Hill is rumored to be in development.
