Fortnite’s Season 4 Marvel crossover is still going strong now that November has rolled around. Though recent leaks hinted at Ghost Riders inclusion in Fortnite’s Season 4’s content ahead of his release, players have a chance to unlock him early.
Though Epic Game’s phrasing seems to indicate that the Ghost Rider skin will come to the shop eventually, players have the opportunity to earn the skin through playing. To earn Fortnite’s Ghost Rider skin, players need to enter in and win the Ghost Rider cup before the event ends on November 4.
First and foremost, players can only earn the Ghost Rider skin early by participating in and winning the Ghost Rider Cup. The event is styled in Marvel’s Knockout mode, which is essentially the same as the standard Fortnite Knockout mode but players will have access to Marvel superhero powers. Each team will have identical Fortnite hero powers from Season 4 so each team will be on even footing. Each match consists of four rounds where teams of three will compete to knock other players out of the competition.
The Ghost Rider Cup takes place in tournament-style brackets. It’s important to note that team members will need to make sure they meet a couple of prerequisites before they are allowed to enter. Players must have an account level of at least 30 and must have two-factor authentication set up on their accounts. With those two prerequisites met, players should be allowed to enter and compete in Fortnite’s Super Series Ghost Rider Cup.
Seeing as this is an online tournament, players are going to want to have a team of players they know and communicate well with. While skill will naturally determine a large amount of how matches in the Knockout mode play out, there is still the element of hero powers that players need to be aware of. This means there’s still a small element of chance mixed in. All of that is to say, it’s going to be quite the difficult task to earn Fortnite’s Ghost Rider skin for free.
However, it’s not impossible to earn the skin for free either. Players will need to place in a certain percentile per region in order to earn the skin. In North America, placing anywhere from 1st to 200th place will earn the entire team the Ghost Rider skin. Interestingly, Epic Game’s official rules distinguish that NA East can rank 1st to 500th to earn the skin, but NA West must rank in the top 200th to earn the skin.
Thankfully, the point system is fairly simple. Earning 1st place will earn teams 25 points, 2nd earns 10, 3rd and 4th earn five, 5th through 8th earn three, and 9th through 16th place in a match will award one point. However, Epic Games has confirmed Fortnite’s Marvel crossover event will continue well into the future, so players shouldn’t be afraid of the Ghost Rider skin disappearing permanently.
Fortnite is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
