Ryse 2 Might Be in the Works at Crytek | Game Rant

Crytek recently released Crysis Remastered, but some fans may be wondering what’s next from the company. While official announcements haven’t been made, an alleged internal document supposedly leaked online, potentially revealing some of the projects that it has in the pipeline. Apparently, this includes a sequel to Ryse: Son of Rome, the hack and slash game that was released as an Xbox One launch title all the way back in 2013.

Ryse: Son of Rome earned mixed reviews at the time of its release, but it certainly has its fans as well. Some were critical of Ryse‘s gameplay, but there was a great deal of praise heaped on it for its story and visuals, which were cutting-edge in 2013. Ryse‘s mixed reception seems to have led to the game earning lower-than-expected sales, with Crytek blaming the low sales of the Xbox One console itself.

Since Ryse: Son of Rome wasn’t a big sales success and seven years having passed since its launch, fans have not really expected the company to move forward with a sequel. If the leaked Crytek internal document is legitimate, then Ryse 2 may actually be seeing the light of day as Ryse Next, though nothing from that document has been confirmed by anyone official at the time of this writing. And unfortunately, beyond Ryse 2‘s possible existence, there are no other details available for the game.

While there are no additional details about Ryse 2 from the leaked document, it does potentially reveal some of Crytek’s other future plans. If the leaked document is to be believed, Crytek is planning on releasing a Crysis battle royale game, as well as a Crysis VR game. Crytek has released a number of VR titles in the past, and since the battle royale genre is all the rage right now, these details from the leaked document are especially easy to believe.

Other Crytek projects potentially leaked include a mobile version of Hunt: Showdown, as well as a sequel to Crytek’s VR game Robinson: The Journey. Similarly to Ryse: Son of RomeRobinson: The Journey didn’t do so well with critics, so it will be interesting to see if the game ever materializes.

Before any Crytek fans get too excited about any of these projects, though, it’s entirely possible that the leaked document was faked, or that the information is outdated. It could very well be that Ryse 2 and these other games were in development at one point, only for them to be canceled.

Ryse: Son of Rome is out now for PC and Xbox One.
